Getting your seat height right for hunter FT

Trying to get a comfortable seat for hunter FT that is also the right height can be challenging. If you can't find something that is already perfect for you, start with a seat you like that is a little too high. Begin by placing a piece of wood (e.g., 1x4, 2x4, etc.) under each of your feet to...

    Crosman 1720T field target practice

I'm new to shooting a scoped PCP air pistol so am hardly qualified to speak on the subject but will share what little I think I know. A rubber eye cup on the ocular end of the scope will help keep your eye and scope aligned if you press your forehead and cheek gently against it. From what I am...

    HW/Weihrauch Stippling a 97K factory stock..

I've got to agree with A.G.R. I think that is the most desirable checkering pattern HW has put on a 97 stock. And it looks likes a dedicated right hand stock? SWEET! Refinish it first and see how you like it. If you're still bored with it THEN change the checkering. Or better, add an...

Pistol Scope Choices for FT or EFT

Cameron built this pistol for me using a scope and mount he had on hand. It has a UTG 3-12x44 mini SWAT with mildot reticle. Said for the money the scope ranges very well and I have to agree. I am with you wishing there was a true pistol/long eye relief scope made with side focus down to 10...

    HW/Weihrauch HW 80 build .22 long rifle.

I can't add anything that hasn't already been said except I really like the way you brought the top of the barrel block down to match the line of the compression tube. What did you fill the rear sight screw holes with?

    Stockpiling pellets and slugs

I have pellets that are more than 20 years old, been kept in original packages indoors and I don't see any oxidation. Why are they still around? Bought long ago when I was experimenting with everything Beeman sold and for whatever reason these weren't standouts in my guns so I didn't finish...

Results SVFTC .... October Field Target MATCH REPORT

Hey Scott, it was a great season and great fun. A pretty good core of folks stepped up this year and assumed roles large and small to help which is great. A lot of small chores add up to one big match. As you point out, help needs to be limited at set up to maintain control however I think...

    Beeman Beeman R1 .177 build

What was the spray on finish and how did you apply it? From an aerosol can? From a detail/dash/small pneumatic paint gun? Thinned probably?

    Beeman Beeman R1 .177 build

A.G.R., very nice looking. What did you strip the stock with? Did you do any sanding? Did you bleach the stripped wood to get it white before applying the dye?

N/A Where is everyone selling their springers

Join an air gun club and become a respected member, it'll open doors. I've gotten some very nice deals from people in my clubs or people club members have referred me to. See it, handle it, try it, buy it......no tax, no shipping, no scammers, no worries. Works for both parties. Weeds out...

    Results September SVFTC Match report

As you opined at the match, Scott, there were few "gimmies" this time and the longer targets were made extra challenging by the variable wind speed and direction. I think most people in attendance were pretty focused on doing their best and let's face it, most of us like to win a little...

    Offhand practice

I tell people that off-hand shots are the hardest to make and the easiest to improve on because most people, myself included, don't practice them. The other day I tried practicing in the house by taping a target to the wall and trying keep the cross hair in the rather large bull's eye for a...

    What’s your excuse?

My two favorites are: "I was feeling for the trigger and the gun went off" (sometimes I even hit the target!) and "Aaaaargh, I worked in the yard yesterday, my back is tired and I'm weaving all over the place!"

    Quietest Targets?

Tape paper targets to a 12 inch diameter, 16 or 18 inch high roll of under-carpet padding. One roll is good for several tins of pellets. Used to use this with a .25 Beeman Kodiak and it worked fine.

    My best deal ! What's yours ?

Hmmmm.......I don't know if this one counts, Scott. "For your years of outstanding service of my other air guns" sounds like there are a lot of back payments in that gift, lol. I think you earned that one.

    My best deal ! What's yours ?

How about a beautiful .177 AA S400 FAC Xtra with Huma regulator installed, a Hawke (not Sidewinder) 6-24x50 scope, wheel, rings, soft case and a tin of pellets for $400?! An elderly local shooter a friend told me about was getting out of shooting and offered it to me for that price. No...
