Maybe I was assuming that when everything is paired up and you range a target that distance shows up automatically in the app on my phone. Is this a correct assumption or do you always have to enter the range manually into the app on your phone?

Lots of good input here. But here is my two cents worth...Tethering should NEVER be allow in competition. It's great for setting up a rifle and establishing working pressures and velocities while figuring out your rifle, ie., development... In a competition shoot it's you and your rifle...
