Has Anyone tried Joe Wayne Rhea's method for gun stock refinishing?

As a woodworker, I'd not put poly on a fine piece of walnut. Is wipe on poly easy? You bet! Do I even remotely like the finish on a quality piece of lumber? Not even remotely, no. Thick plastic gloss just isn't my cup of tea. "oil base" does not always mean controlled or banned or harmful or...

    Why Did You Join AGN?

Any time I take up something new, I tend to join a forum. The one I join will inevitably be the one that has answered the most questions for me when I ask about my new hobby on Google. AGN was just such a place. It also seemed to have a strong community (and buy sell forum!)

SHTF : Springer or PCP With Hand Pump? Which would you choose?

Assuming the rifle is for hunting/food, I'd want two of mine, The Revere in .25 for "everything else" and the Dragonclaw for big game. Both hand pump just fine.

    Optika6 3-18x50 vs Ares ETR 3-18x50

Sorry coming back so late. It's hard to say as I don't have them in similar focal ranges. I can say that my Optica5 4-20x 50mm SFP appears slightly brighter and easier to line up the box/reticle than the Optika6 4.5-27x at all magnification settings. Once I discovered this I bought two more of...

    Show us your Krals!

Looks great! On a woodworking group I frequent, the question of finishes comes up often, as does the answer "danish oil" I'm always quick to ask "which Danish Oil" as "Danish oil" really isn't a single thing. It's a concoction, and every brand has a different formula. So anytime it's...

Guns in your safe that you don't like

Marauder... Some day when I have time to deal with it I will sell it. The only reason I haven't is laziness and the strange idea that I might make a new stock for it.

    Show us your Krals!

Kral Pro 500 (well Pro 700 now) modified with a an FX twist off bottle valve adapter, and hot swapable bottles including these 700cc bottles. The Kratos/Kral I just swapped the stock aluminum 480cc bottle for a 500cc CF.

Optics: Why is it such a subjective topic?

Different priorities. Some will prioritize turrets, some reticle, SFP vs FFP,. rtc. For me, optical quality is number one. (I'm more of a holdover guy, than a turret twiddler, mostly because I'm too dumb to fully get used to adjusting a scope on the fly) so that moves that priority way down...

    Optika6 3-18x50 vs Ares ETR 3-18x50

As for my own opinion, to date, the Meopta scopes I have are the best I've used. If the Ares ETR is in fact comparable in glass quality, then I will seriously want to consider them, as I understand that Athlon may have more options and features. Glass/ image quality, remains my biggest concern...

    Optika6 3-18x50 vs Ares ETR 3-18x50

I get your point, but you've apparently never looked through a bad MTC then! lol They are that bad! (at least the two I have received are) One can easily decide it's POS based on just looking through it. When it feels like your looking through two screen doors,. it's just that bad. Why take...

Who Hunts Varmints With .50 cal Rounds?

Old muzzleloaders were often .50 or thereabouts. Modern ones are anywhere from 900 to 1,500 fpe at the muzzle. down to more like 750-1,000 at 50 yards. I'd assume "back in the day" they were tamer. A Dragon claw with only 1/4 that energy isn't really overkill for most of what was listed. And...

Scope Recommendations for New Airgun Shooter

The one I own that does, is a UTG 3-12 40 that came mounted on a used Dragonclaw. It's AO, as opposed to side focus, but does go down to 5. I think AIM makes another AO that does so as well. They are definitely rare birds.

    Best Tripod Head / Ballhead

I'm intrigued! It reminds a bit of this odd Gitzo I have. (which is best installed directly on a "systematic" style tripod in place of the plate or leveling bowl head) https://www.gitzo.com/global/systematic-ball-head-quick-release-series-5-gh5381sqd/
