I did mine at 25 yards, and @Ogleorama shot his at 30 yards. The targets are so small, I don't think you could really do it all the way out to 50 yards. I would say to go with it, and shoot them at 15 because that is what you have, and the next time you are at the range, go out to at least 25...

Something to note is that you can just use a galvanized finishing nail tied to a string with a slip knot that you can just drop down into the hole of a can and it will stay like a fish hook. You can even thread the nail through a can tab, and then drop it in the hole to have two cans to shoot...
