You are correct, a short fat moderator is not as effective as a longer version and .177 are less air efficient but with a custom moderator I can always get a .177 much quieter than a .22 due the holes in the baffles and endcap being smaller. Bb

For no reason after a few dozen shots the gun goes bang and dumps all the air out of the barrel. Initially it was thought the reg pressure was too low so that was increased but it did exactly the same thing.
