    Thermals and LRF

After using the DNT Thermnight a couple times in the field (on a PB for coyote hunting)… I’m out on its overall usefulness for a hunting optic. The FOV in IR and the resolution in Thermal are just in no man’s land. Spotting/identifying and maintaining moving critters in the frame is just too...

Mind Blowing $1100 THERMAL Hunting Scope (Video Review) DNT Optics ThermNight

Little late to the party there buddy….

    DNT Optics ThermNight TNC225R

Yeah, there’s a short video, but it’s a little Blair Witchish… which is why I only posted the pic from the vid. In hindsight, I think I’ll simply range a couple landmarks with the unit prior to starting any calling. That way I don’t have to use the RF in the heat of the moment.

    DNT Optics ThermNight TNC225R

Luckiest Coyote on the planet… at 149 yards through the TNC225R. Had it mounted on a 16” suppressed .223…. should have shot him right there, but was a little unsure of the range. Once I got him ranged, he figured out what was going on and booked-it.

    Athlon Scopes - your opinion?

I currently have the MIL version of this scope on two air rifles and one on a very accurate .22lr (along with three others on powder burners (up to 7 WSM). I much prefer the MIL reticle and the dot-of-death over the MOA version with the BDC reticle. Here’s one on a Wildcat .25

    Umarex Buckrail moderate for Notos?

Barrel band didn’t necessarily make my Uragan “more accurate”… but it certainly helped with consistency of accuracy and eliminated POI shifts across a broader range of holds/rests. If there’s enough space between bottle/tube and barrel/shroud, then free-floating is better. But, if there’s...

DNT ThermNight TNC225R on the Uragan .30

Honestly… I’m not sure. I’m not much of a “group” shooter. The group above at 75 yards was all in the same hole until I pulled that last shot a little high/right. The digital zoom isn’t real conducive to group shooting either. I know it clobbers pest birds out past 100 yards, and if I miss it’s...

    Tall target test

Tall target tests are a great way to test a scope… they’re also a great way to get some erroneous information. It’s easy to blame the scope for human error in these types of tests. You can’t measure the 50 yards with a LRF… you need EXACTLY 50 yards, so use a wheel or highly accurate laser...

Very impressive for a phone mounted thermal.

How much money do you spend on average for most scopes?

Only a rich man can afford a cheap scope….

    BOG death grip!!!

Agreed… and arca rail is the way to go, most of my rifles wear one now. I’ve also got a couple arca to pic rail adapters that work really well. I’ve noticed they even have ball heads that will accept both arca and Picatinny… so many options now.

State Laws on hunting with airguns.

Having actually killed a Mtn. Lion (via spot and stalk, not out of a tree)… I wouldn’t want to go near one with a big PCP, let alone a springer (even if they are capable of killing a moose in .177)… legal or not!

Nice! I love the Hades/Atomics…. They do good work on critters.

I hear that! I’m surprised how quiet the .30 is… you can actually hear the slug flying through the air.

Airgun Technologies Uragan gen 1 thoughts from long time users?

I notice a “ping” on all bullpup style rifles, probably because there’s a lot going on right next to my ear. I don’t think the Uragan’s “ping” is loud or obtuse in any way, but I’d guess folks will have varying opinions on that. Listen for yourself…. Here’s a couple shots from the other day...

    .30 Uragan vs. pest birds…

Thanks… toughest part of the shooting was getting the calf in the igloo beneath my rifle to stop moving and bouncing my rest. You can hear her in the video bumping around. Big button on the left is the rangefinder, hit it once and the ranging reticle appears, hit it again and it runs the...

Airgun Technologies Uragan gen 1 thoughts from long time users?

I haven’t had my Gen1 long (couple months), and it’s a .30, but I’ve spent a lot of time behind it both in the field and on the home “range”. I’ve got XXL hands too, and have no issues with the stock when field shooting. I typically fill mine to about 290 bar, and shoot it down to about 200. I...
