Time to combine Open and Hunter?

Awwww, come on guys. Hunter class is just trying to unload those shooters that think they need more magnification. Won't anyone take them? On a more serious note, it appears neither the hunter class or the open class want to be combined with anyone (the original subject of this thread) or...

Time to combine Open and Hunter?

No, unlimited would still be their own unofficial class. The only change would be open would now allow seats/buckets and bipods. That would make it a truly “open” class where any combination of aids are allowed. It would give the hunter shooters that want higher magnification a place to go...

    RAW HM1000 Adjustable Butt Plate?

I caught the part about you deciding to use your USFT in Hunter class. Welcome to hunter class BTW. The only reason I haven’t shot mine in open class is the same reason you are switching. I was gearing up to give open a try a year or two ago. But I decided I would rather be 4th out of 20 than...

    RAW HM1000 Adjustable Butt Plate?

Would it make a difference if I told you my rifle was a mac1 hunter? I get why you connect a mac1 with “traditional“ FT. But I don’t see any rifle as restricted to any one class. If you ask Mike to make you a Thomas for hunter pcp it looks and performs exactly like the gun he makes for...

    RAW HM1000 Adjustable Butt Plate?

Allowing for comfort and fit should definitely be factored into any rule. The part that defies logic is the argument by those proposing the rule is that it’s intended to limit participants to what they would use to hunt. I don’t know about you but I’ll hunt with what ever fits best and is most...

Time to combine Open and Hunter?

The only change needed is making bucket and sticks allowed in open class. That solves the magnification issue and brings Life back to the open class. Creating a new sub class or adding another class further fractures the small number of existing participants. we need fewer classes not more.

    RAW HM1000 Adjustable Butt Plate?

I agree that there is a very vocal minority begging for the magnification increase. However I don’t see it as a complete inversion. There will be defections for sure, but my estimation is around 25%, at least here in Ohio. This year we’ve had right around 45 individuals shoot hunter pcp and...

Time to combine Open and Hunter?

I posted this on another thread about the new butt attachment rule change proposal, but also makes sense to be here too. There’s good news and bad news. The bad news is this topic is way past the “passing discussion” phase. It's a proposal that has already been submitted to the BOG. And the...

    RAW HM1000 Adjustable Butt Plate?

There’s good news and bad news. The bad news is this topic is way past the “passing discussion” phase. It's a proposal that has already been submitted to the BOG. And the BOG intends to vote on it before the start of next years FT season. The good news is they have passed the news about...

    AAFTA GP course optimization

You are absolutely right. It accomplished adjusting for course difficulty without any subjective decisions by the MDs. The only reason I can see for complaints is when someone recently scored 300 points (top score or tie for top score in 3 matches), the other classes (most likely piston)...

    AAFTA GP course optimization

Looking back at my statements, I agree that exploit and manipulation were overly harsh choice of words. I'm sure the volunteers running that event were doing what they felt was right with no ill intent. Though I still hold the opinion that they were heavy handed in the application of wind to...

    AAFTA GP course optimization

It looks like this issue bubbled to the surface because of the Sonoran GP. The match report says the course was 33.8T before environmental conditions, but ended up as 41.46T after only factoring in wind. I ran a couple of simulations and the only way to get that large of an increase is if you...

Hawke Frontier 4-20 for FIELD TARGET

No…. You need a scope that can focus down to 10 yards. I’m pretty sure the 4-20 Frontier only focuses to 15 yards.

    Which Trigger

Can you provide more info on what you did to adjust the trigger on a USFT to get it to 6oz? I’m wanting to try to smooth and lighten the trigger on mine.

He replaced the factory stock with an after market stock. Upon hearing that I advised him to shoot in Sportsmen’s class. I hope I didn’t give him bad advice.

    N50 - Fairfield Sportsmen's Association Inaugural Match

After many months of planning and preparation, FSA held our first National 50 Benchrest League match combined with a session of speed silhouette. The 50-yard range at FSA may seem to be sheltered between 12-foot-high berms on two sides and an 8-foot-high concrete wall on the other. But, if you...

    Moderators on Benchrest Rifles

Makes sense that Justin hasn't heard of us. After all, we're on the opposite side of the country and our events typically only attract 12-17 participants. And other than the big(er) 3-4 competitions, I'm not sure I could name another club regularly doing 100-yard benchrest matches. The ASA...

    Moderators on Benchrest Rifles

I didn’t know anyone was keeping track of Airgun BR world records at competitions. 240 10X at 100 yards was accomplished last year at FSA. Here’s the match report. Also with a moderator. https://www.fairfieldsportsmen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/BR-FSA-Match-Report-20230715.pdf
