    Racoon massacre?

On your property it's your business what you're shooting

    Racoon massacre?

Yes unfortunately they have also made it to the blacklist in my yard, but coons are at the top of the list still.

    Racoon massacre?

Hehe! Yes I can relate. I've chased them with many things including water hoses and smacked them in the head with sticks, only to see them circle back within minutes. They don't even get it when their buddies getting shot right next to them and droppin...I'm at odds with what's wrong with their...

    Racoon massacre?

If you have total darkness I recommend simply adding some very low light source nearby, like garden lights. It will be sufficient if you have an illuminated scope such as Vortex 1-6x24 strike eagle. Otherwise I use a flashlight with low setting on my scope. I tend to actually hold the light with...

    Racoon massacre?

I think this here about sounds right. Thanks! I really cannot otherwise explain this. Also the position in which some of these are getting shot is head down,so perhaps that adds additional pressure for blood to flow out...Dang it's messy.

    Racoon massacre?

...In the last few weeks another half a dozen came around to taste the cold end of metal. We see them go out with a messy amount of blood though, pools. Even with head-shots. Is there a reason for this? The only thing we can think of is the caliber. Is the wound channel large with a .30cal the...

    Racoon massacre?

It's in post #25. Can you not see it?

    Racoon massacre?

This one was slightly lighter by about 5-7lbs or so, then the previous one which was pretty large. I would say it was approx 30-35lbs. So this one maybe 25lbs. They look kindah small, but when I picked them up they're lofty oh boy. I never take such photos because I'm queezy of the whole ordeal...

    Racoon massacre?

There it is in all it's gory details...yikes. But I'm, definitely glad the way it went down relative to the previous one.

    Racoon massacre?

Well they have come back, as they always do in more numbers. 3 and then 2 and then 1 last night. I still don't have the bait station completed but I waited for the right moment. The critter was in my arbor and all I could see was an occasional eye or two reflected from the foliage. There's a...

    Racoon massacre?

Thanks much, I'd need a free day to analyse this. But I gather that obviously over 150ftlbs you are going to knock down the coon pretty much with chest shots as well. My main concern is not to kill them on the spot although ideally it would be the best if they get knocked down on the spot. But...

    Racoon massacre?

Ok very nice shooting, but that's a very difficult shot unless you have the caliber and flbs. What velocity is your ammo? I need to mention I do not have a scope just a reflex sight and my range is close around 25 -30 ft at the most. One of my problems is adjusting for distance because the...

    Racoon massacre?

Are you guys saying that a .30 at 800fps will get lodged inside the coons body? I've hard time believing that, those shots penetrate through pressure treated 2"x4" lumber on the flat side. For clarification I'm using the diabolo pellets 50gr. As a matter of fact I have found projectiles lodged...

    Racoon massacre?

Why is .30 cal not enough but the .357 is, in an airgun? They're almost the same.

    Racoon massacre?

Thanks and very funny, I will try the bait setup.

    Racoon massacre?

Ok I've got to invest in luring them to some bait I guess and set it up so they're in the right position...It's getting complicated. I wonder though do they all flee when one of them get shot becuase here they don't really care...These animals seem to be either very low intelligence or super...

    Racoon massacre?

Some funny answers here, thanks much everyone. It sounds like precision head shots are needed...My problem with that most of the time is the angle. In my situation I have usually the lower ground so for between the eyes headshots they'd need to be looking way down otherwise the forehead to...

    Racoon massacre?

Hello there, Another racoon had to be shot again and it seems that they have a million ways to die...The FX impact .30 cal at ~800 fps was used and the aim was the lung/heart from the side. There was a lot of initial blood splatter that I've never seen before and then nothing. We could not find...

Flat top rail replacement for FX m3

It raises the sight unnecessarily imo. The advantage of it being flat(closer to barrel) is less distance correction for elevation. Also less weight of the rail needed.

Flat top rail replacement for FX m3

I found nothing that fits the M3 so far, that is also compact, flat top.
