would this be a good idea for a barrel (chemical coating)

Hmmm wonder if one can use DLC (like powder coating system ) on pellets ? but then there is the environmental issue too ? or is there ?

    Tuning Umarex Notos has arrived.

That’s looks very operator friendly, much easier to use then the existing. Yeah powder coat looks like something I would have done 😬

It melts off and floats to the top. I skim it off with the rest of the dross. I do my ingot making outdoors in a cast iron pot over a propane burner.

Other Custom Veradium Air Taurus 308

For a 308 being sent out to make more power? I'm not impressed with those numbers; stock 308 Texan gets those numbers with 3600 psi.

    AEA Diving into "Big Bore"

@EddieG I really like this thread. You’ve discovered something we all should keep in mind shooting big bores. Also, you’re one of the first members I’ve read about who didn’t have a favorable outcome with powder coated projectiles. Which brand of powder coating did you use?

Long time powder coated myself, easy to clean the barrel, no increase in accuracy.

I think those are also called anti vandal paints, in that they should be easier to clean if a grafitti punk have been by. I have limited experience spraying these myself but i did find them not charging / sticking as well as traditional polyester powder. I also made my own mouse mat with this...

My 34 gr 22 slug mold is on the way

...to do the same thing . Cast some heavy slugs for .218...I'm thinking about a regular 22 condor 24inch tube..I have been casting and powder coating slugs in .510...First pcp .510 second will be 22 cal....I do things backwards.. Lol. Should be easier getting 22 cal pcp accurate than .510...

    moly ing a barrel ?

If you want a ridiculous coefficient of friction, use powdered HBN, hexon boron nitrite to coat your bore. Its amazing stuff. Can be mixed in rubbing alcohol as a buffer and swabbed through the bore.

Are you dropping them, powder coating them and shooting them, or do you size them before or after coating?

    What's your best build?

Not my best but a side project. Always liked the Huben action but wanted a conventional style. This started as a gk1. It will end up shorter (someday, lol) when I decide to cut the air tube down. For now, this is how it sits. Unregulated. Still needs some parts powder coated…. Dave

....0015 to .002 of shrink in this caliber. Some side questions for you guys: What do you do with the dross? Trash can or...? For powder coating... acetone method or shake n bake? I've tried the latter, seems the thickness is really inconsistent. Also, do you lube after coating? I shot 50ish...

I keep my tray on the lowest level so that I get more even heating. That said, none of the cheap ovens I've used ever make it to 400 degrees according to my infrared thermometer. 385 is as high as I've seen, but it still works great with the powders I use. The best results I've ever obtained...

    Benjamin Benjamin Bulldog M357 Impression

Powder coat just gives a lubricating layer, helps keep the bore clean and accurate. I have some tumble lube that I'm probably going to try with The Hammer, not sure if I'll use it with the BD. Powder coat is nice because it keeps your hands clean!
