    30-Yard Challenge

First 30y cards with new Taipan .22 Long 700mm today. Way too windy to form a first mpression, but I read the winds pretty well. Target stand kept blowing over. Had one flag out at ten yards. First Leaderboard submission for new Taipan Vet 2. 196-13 X 30 Y Masters Please use verbiage...

    30-Yard Challenge

The harsh reality - One of the most difficult things for me, is to know ‘when’ to take a sighter with a wind shift. Why -because sometimes I use my prior shot to find the new hold and find out subsequently that I should have used a sighter. The Good news: 190 Masters for 40Y is a great card...

    30-Yard Challenge

The use of the iPhone with scoring plug (and zooming in) really does capture if there is any white space between a black ring line and the hole. It has ruined many “almost 10’s” for me. Fantastic 40y Masters with the Vet 2. I think I’ll need a whole punch to get a higher score.

Taipan Baptized the new Taipan Vet 2 today

Yeah, I was doing a whole lot of teasing on the Vet 2 for N50. That Thomas is a machine. No need for slugs for me either.

We should collaborate as we test out our guns. Remind me again, which gun are you buying? Are you planning to use for your N50 matches? 😀😀 I don’t see you benching that Thomas for N50 matches. That said, I’m going to try with mine to get in the mid 240’s with 2 flags just for kicks. Heck...

Thanks Mike! $49 from Cabellas. Good adjustment on both legs and up/down piston. Google Northern Frontier. It’s pretty solid for the price, folds up easy. There are much more expensive and better stools, but for $50 this was easy.

Taipan Baptized the new Taipan Vet 2 today

Hi Tim I filled to 250 BAR for my last testing. Just checked air pressure and it is at 185 BAR right now. Ed ( EPG) mentioned that Taipan sets the reg up at 135 BAR. I have a screen shot of my last shot string showing 34 shots fired. My guess is that I may get 50 - 60 shots if I ran it...

Taipan Baptized the new Taipan Vet 2 today

Bear with me guys. I know you are trying to help, still trying to understand several responses. There are seven screws to the trigger assembly. I understand I have to adjust the Sear adjustment screw. Also perhaps the 2nd stage travel. Can you be specific and use the Diagram to refer to...

Thanks Dillon. I think the “Lights” will be pretty good also, but maybe need a different velocity. For now the 22.07g shoot solid, but I need to also try the AEA 22.9g.

Thanks Ed. That was part of my logic as well when I was considering buying the Vet 2. I also like really well built guns that shoot well right out of the box, with minimal tinkering.

Ed, you know me. You are the ‘trigger adjustment Czar’ for me. I will come over and we can do this together so I can watch and learn. P.S. I am a bit of a slow learner with triggers. We fondly remember when I adjusted my Safari Red Wolf and it was shooting by itself without me touching...

Taipan Baptized the new Taipan Vet 2 today

Tobe - I knew someone would figure out my issue. Thanks! p.s. A workaround that seemed to work for me was that I would fire a shot, then fully press/release trigger with no pellet in chamber, and then load another pellet and it would always cock. But, the sear adjustment you mentioned seems...

Taipan Baptized the new Taipan Vet 2 today

I received a new Taipan .22 Long ADF with 700mm barrel last week. Mounted a new DNT Optics FFP 7 X 35 X 56mm 34mm scope on this rifle. It is strictly for the bench and although I did not weigh it I think it is a little over 12lbs with the 42oz 34mm scope. I plan to use it for 30 and 40Y...

    30-Yard Challenge

Your patience ( with the wind ) really paid off. Marvin, what was your prevailing good wind condition for waiting to shoot? I.e., Head wind, tail wind, cross wind? Trying to understand which wind calls you used.

Bench Rest Question for the Experts

I have a Randolph front mechanical rest, that I bought used for $400. Just had it cleaned, oiled and adjusted for crisp windage movements. Have it for two years and it really locks my rifle down and provides great stability for BR purposes.
