American Air Arms Evol having cardiac arrest

Fair point! I tried JTS and JSB (18 through 25gr) with similar/worse results… AEA 18gr were te best out of the bunch. All 20-22gr were poop, 25 better than 22 but worse than 18. Though I didn’t try 25gr at proper speeds. Maybe I have to try more.

American Air Arms Evol having cardiac arrest

Agree on the mirror finish not being generally “good”. Funny thing though, my understanding is that Evol barrels are polished to a shine from the factory…

American Air Arms Evol having cardiac arrest

Appreciate you chiming in!! This is how the barrel looks from “squeaky clean” after 100-200 pellets. I properly cleaned it when I got the rifle and meanwhile gave it two more “deep cleans”, meaning Hoppe and dry patches on rotation until white patch, ballistol and dry patches on rotation (to get...

Indeed… I think polishing is not good enough, marks are too deep. A fellow member here has kindly offered to properly hand lap the barrel, which is probably the only way it has a chance. Even then probably going to end up with a reverse choke, meaning larger bore at muzzle…

American Air Arms Evol having cardiac arrest

Yeah going to give AOA a call, they have a list of other backordered stuff for me anyway :) no high hopes given how scarce Evol parts are though… lesson learned I guess, don’t get used (or maybe even new) guns for which there’s no support in terms of spare parts…

AEA pellets. Yeah pushed one through, feels good until the end of the barrel, the almost fall out. I’m guessing that the skirts expand into the rings and get compressed again 3 times when they hit the rings…

Hahaha yeah, that’s why I’m on the fence basically…

TJ barrel on Evol 3 circular indentations near muzzle…

Really appreciate your offer and insight!!! I may trade the gun back (my trading partner is very sorry, he didn’t know and got the rifle used a bit ago as well so offered to trade back immediately). If I decide to trade back I’ll let him know that you made this generous offer!!

American Air Arms Evol having cardiac arrest

Traded for it here, my trading partner got it here as well some time ago. Just to be clear, the member I traded with is great and completely honest. He offered to trade back immediately after seeing a pic of the reg and reinforced the offer after seeing the barrel. He didn’t know how the gun was...

TJ barrel on Evol 3 circular indentations near muzzle…

I may as well try. I have 400 and 600 grit here but I guess you’re right, that’s not good enough for something this deep. My only concern is that I’ll end up with a .23 bore at the muzzle if really get the rings out… like a reverse choke :)

TJ barrel on Evol 3 circular indentations near muzzle…

Not the pellets :) AEA are crazy consistent, I shot complete tins with my other rifles without a single flyer. The Evol throws 2-3 within 10 shots. Seriously, look at the barrel, it’s obvious that it’s defective, these rings aren’t supposed to be there. I’ve never seen a barrel so screwed up...

Appreciate that, but did you see the bore scope pics/video?

TJ barrel on Evol 3 circular indentations near muzzle…

Hoping to get barrel gurus to chime in here… There’s a general post re my new to me Evol (https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/evol-having-cardiac-arrest.1330307/#post-1947180), but the main gripe is this: There are these three ring-like dents in the last 2-3 inches of the barrel… rifle is...

American Air Arms Evol having cardiac arrest

I don’t know… never seen a hammer/spring assembly like that… but then, if it works it works :) I reached out to him to see whether he has any idea as to the barrel. Was seriously considering one of the new Evols but seeing that something like this made it out into the wild I don’t think so… But...

Thanks! Nope, mine doesn’t look like that. Mine looks like the schematics show it, plus the hammer spring is painted blue (which is factory).

Barrels Long shot - Evol 15in barrel in .22

As title says… Long shot but looking for a (good, lol) .22 barrel for a 15in Evol. For background: https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/evol-having-cardiac-arrest.1330307/#post-1947180

American Air Arms Evol having cardiac arrest

Yeah it’s rough… I’m not sure that the barrel left the factory like that. I mean, how could that even happen?! Looks to me like someone got multiple slugs stuck in the barrel and fired them into each pitcher. Like double loaded, fired, and shot another one into the two stuck in the barrel near...

American Air Arms Evol having cardiac arrest

Sooo I received to orings the other day and took the gun apart. The good news first: seems like I calmed its heart rate down :) not perfect yet but way better than before: There’s bad news though… this is how the reg looked like: Mind you the gun is supposed to have less than 200 shots...
