Getting the Pin/s out, then replacing with correct hardness and getting them to stay in place w/o damaging anything is the other 1/2 or better of the problem at hand.

Iron sights on spring piston air guns is closer distance thing ( Like 40y and less use ) IMO.

Snug slip fit LDC and a couple grub screws ... ;) Threading barrel will do 1 of two things ? If done with a DIE it could tighten choke further while also not be done evenly creating a clipping issue. OR .... Done via lathe single point have the choke if present open up becoming looser, tho nice...
