    Zero Compromise Scopes

For general shooting that’s fine. For field target that is a huge problem. In field target the ranging is critical between 10-18y and 45-55y. POI moves probably 1/4” per yard in the <15y range. Forgiving parallax prevents good ranging. Yeah field target is weird like that. Another reason I...

    did a thread just disappear?

Like any inflation- or tariff-focused thread I've seen on any shooting forum, that subject quickly veers into politics. For a moderator it's a nightmare to try and fairly moderate post-by-post so the whole thread tends to vanish at once.

An airgun Hunter from Across the Pond

Welcome aboard Brian. We certainly won't argue that this forum isn't heavy on US shooters but we have plenty from other parts of the world and always welcome more.

N/A Muzzle energy varies with pellet weight, WHY?

The physics of compressible flow is anything but freshman level. It’s probably not unlike flow through rocket nozzles.. I haven’t read it myself but you could start with Cardews Airgun: Trigger to Target

N/A Muzzle energy varies with pellet weight, WHY?

A Pumpmaster produces the same pressure behind the pellet until the pellet is gone. Heavier pellets just take longer. A spring piston produces a spike of pressure. The pressure falls off as the pellet starts to move. It can only be tuned well for a specific pellet weight. The goal is to...

    New to pcp

How clean is your barrel? Are your velocities consistent? Are you shooting your tuning shots over wind flags?

Anyone seen this chrony?? I had no idea...

Interesting. A couple of friends have those on order

    Ambidextrous shooters?

I switched over to shooting lefty a couple years ago. I don't think it hurt my right handed shooting at all and I think it's better because my left eye is both dominant and more acute and my right arm is stronger and steadier. It's definitely more difficult to get into a good position lefty...

TJ barrel on Evol 3 circular indentations near muzzle…

I personally don’t know what those features are. These fliers you described be could just as easily come from inconsistencies in the pellets or loose bits of lead working their way down the bore.

A shout out to All Lefties...

I now shoot rifles ambidextrously and favor left because it’s my better eye. Writing, hockey, sports, etc I’m righty. Except frisbee, which I’m ambi but favor left.

    Anschutz 2002 problem

If it’s the precharged version then Anschutz stopped providing the part years ago and the polymer valve seat has probably crumbled. I have a modified version of the 2002 CA and Allen Zasadny retrofitted a valve from a Steyr. I do not know if he will do that for any 2002CA.

    Economic fear or inflation?

Prices will definitely go up. Even Crosman pellets are made overseas. That should help the used market but if everyone is struggling financially it won’t matter.

    Casting ammo from lead-acid batteries?

Take them in for core dollars and use that to buy pellets.

    PCP then springer?

I’ve gone back and forth. Technically my first gun is a Crosman multipumper and my first airgun of my own is a Diana 34. Then I got into an Air Arms Pro Elite, Daystate Hunstman, etc. This year I added a @Nitrocrushr tuned TX200 and a @Motorhead tuned Thomas FT so I’m clearly committed to...

Cool wildlife. Just make sure your shots clear through so he doesn’t eat a pellet

Apolo .30 Air Boss. Dirt cheap .30 pellets

The skirts are nice and thin so if your resizer pushes the dented skirts back out then that could be helpful. My .30 RAW shot them decently well on Saturday but shame on me I forgot to bring my normal JSB 45s for comparison. (It was not dead calm that day)

Other Just how much must I pay for "Accuracy" in a PCP gun?

Pretty much all Huntsmans are excellent. Very well made and not over complicated. There is a lot of value in a PCP that doesn’t overcomplicate things. I find that more reliable and accurate although the downside is tuning them is more laborious. My answer to that is to have a professional do...

Crazy idea? Pellet samples from multiple brands and grain sizes?

Samples will show what's possible with a given pellet. It may also not entirely show what's possible if the batch isn't one of the best. Additional lots may not perform as well but gaining an idea of which pellets to invest remains very valuable. I recently found my Thomas FT really seems to...
