N/A Thinking about a M4 shooting slugs for loner range varmints

I shoot a M4, 700, 22. Will be on the ground squirrels a week from now. I typically shoot out to 150 yards. I am currently using the H&N 33gr precision slugs or NSA 31.2 gr slugs. Velocity I go for is around 1020-1025fps. I started with what I will call an M2,, then the M3, now the M4. I did try...

FX FX DRS PRO 22 CALIBER SLUG RECOMMENDATIONS

Mine is set up for ground squirrels. I shoot either the NSA 31.2, at 925fps or the H&N 33 Precision slugs at 920fps. Both shoot wonderful for ground squirrels. Regularly shoot out to 150 yard, but with little wind I will try longer.

Exactly how many is too many

Now that is a great question. 10 years ago my gun safes(2), were full. Hard to even see what was in them. Now, including pistols, my grand total is 15. This is rimfire, centerfire, shotguns, air rifles and pistols. And I do not even shoot all of them regularly. I’m 65 now. Hopefully have at...

    It's a BIG thing......really!

That brings me back to my days shooting.22 bench rest competitions. Most were shot at 100 yards. Most shooters used 4 flags of various types. To win yes, a barrel matched to a particular lot of ammo. But if you understood the wind, you left with green backs in your pocket.

Why some prefer high power .22 over .30 vice versa

Wind is the most critical factor. Yes I enjoy warm sunny days, but 45 degrees and little wind is just fine. Watching the weather closely. Either 2 1/2 weeks, or 3 and 1/2 weeks I will be in NV depending on Weather. My second trip will be towards the end of April. By mid May, the grass is tall...

Why some prefer high power .22 over .30 vice versa

Cost is my biggest issue and the target. I hunt with mine. Right now I am on a dairy farm shooting birds and in a few weeks I will be in Nevada on ground squirrels. On the dairy I feel 30 cal would be way too much energy for birds. I am shooting 25 gn 22 cal slugs at generally 50-100 yards. I...

    Tripod

This is what you want. Works with arca or picatinny. Buy a saddle if your rifle does not have a rail on it.

FX Changing Fx M4 from 22 to 30

That is just about the same as my rifle. My squirrel setup is the 33 gr precision slugs. One mag per fill with 580cc bottle. Right now I am shooting birdsong a dairy farm. I am using 25 gr slugs and am getting 3 mags per fill.

FX FX Airguns DRS Pro: How Significant is This Really?

Wow. Really fun to read. I have had a DRS Pro since Utah Airguns first had them. Maybe April 2024. Yes a different design. It really does feel like a powder burner. I am a squirrel shooter. .22 cal all the way. My gun is always hooked up to a large tank, so air is never an issue. And yes this...

FFP Scopes and all the hype

Very fun to read all of this. If you are a target shooter, sfp is wonderful. Now if you are a critter shooter I prefer the FFP. Just never have to worry about holdover on a particular magnification. And yes I do shoot. Typically on a dairy farm weekly and in the spring ground squirrels in NV for...

FX What would be the best moderator for m4 .25cal sniper

On my 22 sniper I tested all 5 moderators I had. This included the Donny small and large with sections on them and the impulse a similar model to the Donny. An older Donny and the one that came with the gun. The best for accuracy with my setup, the one from FX and it really is just about as...

Fx m4 vs fx king discussion!

Very well said. I do not worry about perfect accuracy. I have ground squirrel accuracy and bird accuracy. And it works. I know that in most cases, what I point at drops. I sure do not need anything better.

Fx m4 vs fx king discussion!

The M4 is wonderful. I’ve been. Shooting impacts for 4 years. No problems here. I was set up with 33grn slugs for ground squirrels. Hammers them out to 150 yards. Generally shooting 50-125. Recently I’ve been on dairy farm. The birds are hiding from me. Using 25gn slugs and getting 100 shots per...

    FX M4 help!

I’m running mine at 165bar, 5 lines on adjuster that is under the barrel, and 3.5 on micro adjuster. 33gn slugs 1020fps. Can easily go up in velocity but keep it there.

    A proper bench

The very best portable bench and even for a permanent setup is https://www.stukeysbenches.com/. They are also the most expensive. When I purchased mine they were quite a bit less. Do not shy away, especially if you shoot expensive Airguns or powder burner, and already have a good air compressor...

    Airgun Market Shift?

I have 2 higher end slug shooters. Why. I shoot ground squirrels. A typical trip for 3 days and 500-1000 go down. When I started 10 years ago, well actually 35 years ago with Beeman, with PCP’s, they were just starting to become the guns they are now. Now so many people have shown interest, many...
