    Umarex NOTOS accuracy issues.

Can't say I've ever experienced leading so severe that it produced a 7" shift at 33 yards. A dirty barrel tends to show up as growing group size, for example the described 1" groups increasing to 2", not a huge point of impact (POI) shift that stays for a few shots and then moves somewhere...

Barrel loose in the middle after machined at breech

Presumably no machining operations were done to the region of the barrel where the perceived loose spot is now. In other words, there is no logical explanation for how the middle of the barrel just spontaneously expanded. Therefore I lean toward subscriber's intuitions that something is...

    Belville washer lube question

Just smooth the two surfaces individually. It should not be necessary to lap them together. For the metal part (i.e. the tiny volcano rim), the goal is to have a polished surface free of any microscratches that would allow air to slowly weep through, or contribute to abrading the plastic part...

    Belville washer lube question

The washer stack is not exposed to high pressure air, so any good metal lubricant is fine to use. I have used everything from simple 30W non-detergent oil to expensive Krytox at different times over the years and can’t say it makes any meaningful difference. Regarding other things you may want...

N/A Muzzle energy varies with pellet weight, WHY?

...the gas rams to a greater degree than the pumper. If a PCP were added to the graph, it would exhibit increasing energy with increasing pellet weight.

N/A Muzzle energy varies with pellet weight, WHY?

The energy decline with increasing pellet weight you are seeing from the two Gamo rifles is a behavior common to springer (or gas ram) power plants. It is related to the smallish volume of high pressure air available to accelerate the pellet. Pneumatic rifles will generally produce increasing...

    Air Venturi Avenger scope

Unexpected lateral shifts at a distance are usually some combination of wind and cant error.

    Crosman pellets

White Lightning bicycle chain wax. A very light application, about 10 drops added to a tin and then tumbled to distribute it. I don’t think it does anything meaningful in terms of lubricating properties but it is a protective coating to prevent surface oxidation.

diablos vs hollow points for rats

x2 for wadcutters on small pests. Having shot a few hundred gray squirrels on scope cam, it became clear wadcutters were more effective than domes if the shot placement was less than optimal. A good hollow point can be equally devastating if not better, but most hollow point pellets I’ve...

    Crosman pellets

The markings on the tins are: PA = Pyramyd Air WM = Walmart Am = Amazon WDW = washed, dried, waxed The “washing” here refers not only to cleaning with a degreaser solution (e.g. Awesome Orange or Purple Power), but also tumbling them vigorously in a wire strainer to break off the flashing at...

    Crosman pellets

If Crosman is switching the .22 Hollow Points to the Daisy design, I welcome it. I've bought them a few times since 2020 and each time they have grouped well in multiple rifles, and better than most Crosman HPs I've purchased over the last 10 years or so. Example of a couple of 30 yard groups...

    Barrel Karma Red Panda Bench

Shooting that well with damaged rifling at the muzzle is impressive. Meaning there is potential greatness left on the table to leave it as is. Or to say it differently, it is true some barrels shoot quite well despite machining defects. It is also true these same barrels shoot better still...

    Barrel Karma Red Panda Bench

I hope that is not representative of the usual standard of workmanship for their barrels. It looks more like a Snowpeak barrel.

Snowpeak Leak in my PP 750 Pistol ?

The fill port O-ring #50 is a common source of leaking in SPA PCPs. It is too soft so it eventually extrudes into the gap formed by the flat on screw #51. Replace it with a 90 durometer. The OEM size is a M1.5x5 but a -008 works equally well in this application.

    AEA/JTS Pellets and Fouling

Ah yes, .219 heads being sent through choked barrels (LW polygonal and FX). A good lapping regimen (cast lead lap with an aggressive abrasive) would extend the time between cleanings and make it easier to clean.

Skout Why I Changed my Epoch Barrel.

The photo presented shows crisp definition at the ends of the rifling, which is the part that matters. The facing cut isn’t pretty but it contributes nothing to, and detracts nothing from the barrel’s capacity to be accurate. Granted, it may call into question the quality of the other...

Hatsan Is my new Hatsan regulator broken?

Okay, got it...yeah it sounds like our terminology is getting crossed up. People typically use the phrase “all the way in” to describe the hammer spring being maximally compressed. But since you have tried moving it the opposite direction and found the shot count to get even worse, it sounds...

Hatsan Is my new Hatsan regulator broken?

All the way in means maximum hammer spring tension, which is very likely causing the gun to waste air...meaning the reason shot count is poor.

Hatsan Is my new Hatsan regulator broken?

Setting up a PCP without a chronograph is like building a deck without a tape measure. It's possible but it will take longer and it won't turn out as well. Step 1. Read up on the $30 chronographs...
