The LP5 shroud also has slots on the underside, but the gap between the barrel and the shroud is rather tight, and the sound has to go past some edges before it gets out into the open air. That slows down the speed of the air and dampens the sound. Not 100% optimal of course, but much better...

That's one way to go. From the center line of the block to the lever there is a little over 10.5mm available. I'm working on a solution with a Weaver rail that is narrow in the area where the lever is, and extends a distance forward over the barrel. I have a hope that this will work out and look...
