Small caliber for feral hog ethical quick kills

Wait for Manny to weigh in on this one. He has killed pigs with pretty much anything you could imagine.

Air Arms would like to know - Do you remember your first air rifle?

I got my first cottontail with a Daisy Quicksilver single pump. Maybe 300 fps and 1 foot pound of energy? I would not recommend it, but it got the job done that day.

Who do you trust to ship pellets besides Pyramyd?

I only buy CHP’s at Walmart because they are stupid cheap. Online they want the premium price.

Who do you trust to ship pellets besides Pyramyd?

Pyramyd sets the standard for shipping pellets, but they are out of the ones I need. Who else do you trust to pack them right?

    Squirrel hunting gun recommendations (sorry)

The notos is probably quieter than the ranger or scout, but you can overcome that with a moderator. But Stoeger has got the ergonomics and fit/feel figured out. The notos 🤷‍♂️. I think the Notos would make a great family gun though, and it would be great for popping critters from a vehicle.

    Squirrel hunting gun recommendations (sorry)

I put a 3-9x BSA Sweet 17 on the XM1 S4 and ran 5 mags of Eunjin domes through her at 41.9 yards, LRF verifed. The highest and lowest impacts on target would have been less than 1.25” apart center-to-center. If you overlayed all 5 of those 7 shot groups (1 mag per target), you’d have a 35 shot...

Air Arms would like to know - Do you remember your first air rifle?

My very first was a Crosman 788 BB Scout. No bird was safe from me with that thing in my hands.

N/A What’s the most efficient PCP hand pump today?

I don’t know about warranty service, but I wouldn’t pay to ship a $30 hand pump. I will get by on it until I get something better. I would not be averse to another el cheapo pump like that 4 brothers. All I can find after searching is a 4 uncles pump. The available and affordability of PCP...

    Squirrel hunting gun recommendations (sorry)

Got the XM1 S4 straightened out today. Dropped the scope in a pair of El Cheapo $10 tipoff rings from wally world, and shot this 0.55” center-to-center group at 19.4 yards verified by LRF with the 28.4 grain Eunjin domes. I was in a rush, too, because i was fa-fa-fa-freezing out there in about...

N/A What’s the most efficient PCP hand pump today?

Well right now I have a VEVOR I picked up for $30. Which is awesome considering you could spend that much on hoses and fittings. I get by on it. I am not paying for a compressor, but i would fork over + or - $200-$300 for the most efficient hand pump known. If I am shooting a gun, I am...

N/A What’s the most efficient PCP hand pump today?

Which hand pump is the most efficient? As in, most air volume/pressure for the fewest pumps? I can deal with something harder to pump if it fills a gun faster. I am looking to spend less time pumping, instead of less effort.

    Squirrel hunting gun recommendations (sorry)

I threw the scope on the .22 Stoeger XM1 S4, pumped it up with my el cheapo pump, and fired a magazine of Eunjin domes at about 15 yards. It’s incredibly quiet. Decent group of 7 shots here, seem to graze the tree but it stacked them up pretty good. My index is on the aim point, pinky on the...

    Squirrel hunting gun recommendations (sorry)

30 or 40 yards range is plenty for squirrels. Even with a .22 LR, you’ll probably find a similar limit to make a good shot on a grey squirrel. They are so small and move around so much. Not like the big fox squirrels that sometimes hunker down in the tops of the pines. If you guys have big...

    Squirrel hunting gun recommendations (sorry)

The difference is a lot. The XM1 S4 rifles are basically the same as Diana Stormrider as far as I can tell. It’s probably gonna be a mid power, low shot count gun that is easy to pump. Reviews are mixed. Might be like playing the lottery to get a good rifle instead of a project gun. VS the...

    Squirrel hunting gun recommendations (sorry)

Someone suggested the R9. I have bought and sold 3 different price point PCP rifles. But the R9, I will hang on to for probably the rest of my life. It is break-barrel perfection and is 10 times the rifle as any PCP for the same price point. “But a PCP at the same price point is going to be...

Stoeger Experience with older Stoeger XM1 S4?

One good thing I can say about this rifle is that it holds air. It’s been sitting unopened in the stock room at Everhart’s for 4-5 years, and it still had about 2k psi in the tube. Fired a few shots, seems pretty fast and hard hitting with the heavy EJ domes. I just ordered a hand pump from...

Stoeger Experience with older Stoeger XM1 S4?

I took my first cottontail at age 8 or 9 with a Daisy Quicksilver. That gun made about 1.5 fpe of energy 🤷. The performance was lacking but it got the job done. It would not be my first choice though. Any lead pellet with over 10 fpe on impact and pinpoint accuracy will probably kill...

Stoeger Experience with older Stoeger XM1 S4?

I will take 600+ feet per second with a eun jin. That is some serious air power for me. A lot more than my R9 or my Benjamin pumper. If I gotta step up from there, I will grab something other than an air rifle. Realistically I just want something quiet I can keep in the corner to take out...

I wonder how they will handle some heavy stuff like a eun jin.

Stoeger Experience with older Stoeger XM1 S4?

I picked up a new, old stock, Stoeger XM1 S4 at the local sporting goods place last week. I was never really interested in them until I held one in my hands. Gun feels very natural, I really like the stock. Trigger is a very long but light pull something akin to a Gamo. I can probably fix...
