Great Service from The Pellet Shop

I had a wonderful experience at The Pellet Shop. I ordered a bunch of pellets 25 and 30 cal, so a heavy lot. Unfortunately some tins of pellets were severely damaged by the rough handling of the postal service. The Pellet Shop handled this very well and shipped out replacements right away...

    AEA/JTS Pellets and Fouling

If you check out the other post (see link below), it appears that the JTS/AEA pellets just have a small bit of antimony (AEA more than JTS, but less than H&N), no Tin. It is wild how little antimony affects the hardness so much! There goes my pet theory of tin. Maybe the harder pellets don't...

    Metallurgy JSB/FX- JTS- AEA

Awesome - many thanks for getting these results! Really eye-opening. I heard rumors that AEA/JTS were using tin, but these results seem to show antimony. It is wild how little antimony increases the hardness so much.

    Metallurgy JSB/FX- JTS- AEA

@dgeesaman Have you had a chance to check the metallurgy of the AEA/JTS pellets? We are curious to know if there is elevated tin content in them.

    AEA/JTS Pellets and Fouling

The Tin reference was read on these forums, so not sure the original source. The Tin content was reported to be from JTS. There is another forum where one person was going to test the content, but I have not seen any follow-up post yet. I am using mostly choked Lothar Walther polygonal...

    AEA/JTS Pellets and Fouling

First, let me say that I love the quality and uniformity of the AEA/JTS pellets - they beat the pants off JSB/FX/AA comparable pellets. I think that the AEA/JTS are awesome for .22 and larger for benchrest (other than the nipple on the front). But, I have been struggling lately with barrel...

    Skout Blown HP Evo reg.

Smok3Y, I am mirroring your pain. My HP reg leaks at right around the set point - filling or shooting down to this level. I contacted Skout last week, but it has been crickets so far. I have changed out the orings several times. It seems like, when I turn the reg a bit, the leak goes away...

The Karma Red Panda: A New Era in Airgun Precision

Very interesting offering, but it would be nice to see some regular folks using the new barrel and their actual groups. PJ's video is great, but the pictures down the barrel make it seem like there is a lot of lead fouling. I wonder if someone could post a borescope down the new barrel?

    Barrel fouling within 75ish shots

Here is the chrony string for the 110 shots (note that the last 20-shot group was at 890 fps and the first couple of shots had the wrong hammer setting). After around 50 shots, the speed started to rise. I refilled at around 50 shots, but only filled to 190 bar, shooting down to 120 bar.

    Barrel fouling within 75ish shots

I read through this post on your Ghost barrel with the fouling/leading problem at around 50 to 70 shots with great interest. I just purchased a 28" .22 one from AoA that is behaving similarly. Notably, it has a very, very, very tight bore and super tight choke. I almost had to hammer pellets...

    Brocock/BRK Ghost collaborative data request

So, I liked the 30 cal Ghost so well, when a World Record version came up for sale tuned by Derrick, I jumped on it. I had a similar problem with the reg moving up as it settled in, originally it was set for 110 bar, but went to 135 bar after a few shots. So I took advantage and ran a few over...

    Brocock/BRK Ghost collaborative data request

I though I would add my Ghost strings as well. My new .30 came set at 135 bar, but after the regulator broke in a bit went to 155 bar. I had to reset it down, so I tried a number of regulator settings along the way. Note all pellets has HBx on them to season the barrel. I also noted that the...

Knurling Slugs - Is it the Solution?

I am intrigued by the folks knurling or canneluring slugs. Is it THE solution for a better all-around fit to most barrels rather than specific diameter slugs? I have been disappointed in my attempts to try .22 and .25 slugs - I never seem to have the right size and they shoot like open-choke...

    Skout .30 Skout EVO SubMOA

Polishing is done with a nylon bore brush with a heavy duty paper towel and MOTHERS Mag & Aluminum Polish. Does a great job smoothing, but won't take out deeper scratches or the gouges.

    Skout .30 Skout EVO SubMOA

You probably won't see the cross scratches with a pellet push. The longitudinal ones show up as scoring lines on the pellets. I don't think that it's going to get any better. I will have to relook at the crown to see if anything can be done for it. The ring gouges are pretty smooth now, so the...

    Skout .30 Skout EVO SubMOA

I typically don't clean, but clearly there is embedded lead, even after polishing. I will have to rethink the cleaning routine. This was after a few tins of AEA pellets.

    Skout .30 Skout EVO SubMOA

For comparison, here is the 22 L-W Skout barrel - I only ran a dry patch after shooting 2-3 tins. Sorry for the focus issues - the borescope has a learning process. Throat/leade Polished rear end (the roughness on the bottom/right is the borescope mirror setup). Starting to see some...

    Skout .30 Skout EVO SubMOA

Here's mine with the borescope (just got the borescope today, so working on figuring out the focus).: Ring gouges in throat/leade that I polished quite a bit already. Polished bore in rear. Note the highly polished is the land, the groves are pretty rough even after polishing. Crown - yes...

    Skout .30 Skout EVO SubMOA

So, curosity got the better of me. I pulled the barrel off my Skout to see how the SubMOA .30 was doing from a cleaning standpoint. There was not too much leading in most of the bore. I re-ran some polishing patches through with a longer cleaning rod. I could not feel the choke area with the...
