    30-Yard Challenge

Very true for competitions like EBR, NAC, RMAC, etc., but this target challenge was created in February 2022 for fun with no time limit. I generally try and shoot my cards in 20 minutes or less to simulate a true competition. Also, I have a tough time waiting for an ideal wind condition and...

    30-Yard Challenge

Yep, I kind of agree. I think trying to master several different wind holds and conditions with changing wind shifts while shooting 20 or 24 bulls is too complicated. I think Joe is on to something here. Thanks!

    30-Yard Challenge

Ok, we are all anxiously waiting. Nobody on this entire thread has even seen a 30Y Challenge card shot or posted at 50 yards with these sized rings. Definitely not a 200-19x! Looking forward to seeing your card.

    30-Yard Challenge

You’re probably right, but clearly there must be some rules of thumb that we have collectively learned while shooting these cards in the wind. I’m just trying to get a bead on some more experienced target shooters, who consistently score well, and in windy conditions.

    30-Yard Challenge

Joe, I was thinking about this a bit more. I think one of my issues with wind reading while shooting a card is that I try an adapt to my near flag directional changes for each bull, and then try and estimate my next shot/hold based on the current wind condition. As an example. I am finding...

    30-Yard Challenge

Great 40Y Masters card. Anything north of 190 is really good for this small bull at 40Y. I understand waiting for your ideal wind condition and using that same hold for each bull, but how do you not look thru the scope when you move from one bull to the next? Also know that the Thomas rifles...

Marvin - I haven’t seen any 175, 185 cards. Where are you hiding those? 😉 Would we love to have your marksmanship skills! Send us a pic of the gun, never heard of it.

New RAW TM1000x - first range outing

Paul I thought ( or heard ) that the RAWs don’t shoot slugs well from Poly barrels. I guess your 100y test results with the 13.4 KO’s dismiss that myth. I guess I was surprised. Tom

New RAW TM1000x - first range outing

Paul Pretty good groups at 100 yards, especially for a .177 and pretty light slugs. Actually a 45 and 43 for score shooting, so pretty solid for score as well. Do you have a Poly barrel on that RAW or is it a cut rifle barrel? Mine was tuned by Martin for 13.4 JSB/FX trash can pellets...

New RAW TM1000x - first range outing

Zack Re. With or without moderator in reference to your last sentence. Wanted to get back to you about using the Impulse Air 2000 .22 cal moderator vs. my initial testing without any moderator. When Martin was recently testing my rifle with the 13.4g 845 FPS tune at 50y, he told me that my...

New RAW TM1000x - first range outing

Thanks Mike. The rear Protektor bag is great for my BR use. I use the "ears" on the rear of the bag to align my butt stock and try and do everything possible to start out straight and level. I do need a smaller bag so I can get lower in my rear setup. Future belated gift for Father's Day😊

Good luck with the new gun Paul! Post some groups (and pics) at 100y when you break it in.

New RAW TM1000x - first range outing

Thanks Thomas for the kind words. The 13.4g is doing much better for me than the 16.2g, as others have experienced also. It will be interesting to see how it will do at 810-815 FPS for N50 cards. I think I got a lil’ lucky.

New RAW TM1000x - first range outing

Tried the FX 13.4 'trash cans' at 50Y, light wind. First N50 card with this rifle. Would not even bother in any real wind. Also got anew Impulse Air .22cal moderator. Pellets flying at 850 FPS when I shot this card, but dialed it down to 810-815 FPS for 30 and 40Y challenge targets.

    30-Yard Challenge

Good tip. I ordered my jam nut from FX- USA a few years back for my Royale 400 .22 caliber. My HST nut was moving and velocity changing. This jam nut locks the HST nut in solid. I dropped my RAW .177 TM1000X down from 850 FPS to 813 FPS today with the 13.4g.

    RAW 1000 for benchrest shooting

    30-Yard Challenge

Went to the range this morning and shot my RAW TM1000X .177 with a Sightron 36X fixed mag 2FP scope. I shot a total of nine 30Y cards; three challenge and six Masters cards. I just got the rifle back from Martin last Friday, and today was the first outing with the revised tune. Shooting...

    RAW 1000 for benchrest shooting

Hey Bob Just sayin’ hi. I was just revisiting this old thread, and it’s just a little over three years since you posted the initial thread. Since my original responses, I recently purchased a RAW TM1000X .177 from Martin. My intent is to use it for the 30 and 40y Masters Target Challenges...
