    HW95/R9 Piston seal

Last project installed a 12 fpe Vortek kit in my 0.177 R9. Got the replacement Vortek seal with the kit. Photo of the original Wierhauch seal here. Some minor face damage. No massive dieseling or detonation to my knowledge. Does this look like normal wear and tear? Also, Installed the new...

    Extreme Spread and SD data

General question. For a higher end springer (R9, HW 30, TX200, etc..) what is considered to be maximum acceptable velocity spread and standard deviation? Thanks.

    TX200 III Spring Buzz

Did a pellet test for all my current 22 pellets in my TX200 MkIII today. Testing for accuracy and ballistic consistency. Here's the summary: I noticed that as pellet weight got up into the 18 grain range the spring buzz significantly increased, takes almost 1 second to subside. Is this...

    Duct Seal Solvent?

Don't know if anyone has done this. At some point I want to remelt my pellets that drop out of my duct seal trap. Many pellets have bits of the goop on them. Don't want to throw those in my Lee pot since it will probably make a permanent mess. Is there any solvent that I could soak the...

    Ballistol & Dieseling/detonation

Shooting the R9 today. Accuracy seemed to be dropping off so cleaned the barrel. Ballistol on a nylon brush followed by a pull thru mop and finished with cleaning pellets till they came out clean. Gave the breech/hinge area a quick spay as well and wiped it clean and dry as I could. Loaded a...

    Williams gunsight on HW30S

Got a Williams Gun Sights peep for my HW30S. Took off the stock rear sight and mounted it tonight. As far as accuracy... First group I've ever shot with CTC less than the projectile diameter. Huzzah!

New Addition to the PewPew Family

Recent arrival from AoA. It's the little guy in the middle HW30. Small in comparison with my R9 and Benji Trail NP2 yet same pull length as the R9 so "feels" full size, kind of like a Ruger 1022. Can actually cock the thing with ONE finger, crazy low cocking force. Only a few dozen pellets...

Sudden onset inaccurracy - Benji Trail NP2

Something has gone wrong with my Benji Trail NP2 (0.22 cal). Sudden onset inaccuracy and significant velocity drop. Normally I shoot the JSB 14.3gr at right around 800 fps. Group size at 10m is right around 0.3"CTC. Now it's shooting like a shotgun 1.5" grouping and down to 700-720fps. I...

    Chrony has Gremlins..

Something bizzare has just started happening with my Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chrony. Been using it in my basement 10m range for several months. Starting today the data readout started going wild going from 0-9999 fps in seeming random numbers serveral times per second. Was also recording...

    Minimum Pellet Weight for Springers?

OK, I just received two tins of 0.177 H&N Baracuda greens. I noted on the cans "For PCP rifles only". I've previously shot a couple of hundred of these pellets from my R9 before seeing this notice. The pellets are 6.64gr and average 1,090 fps from the R9. I know you are not supposed to fire...

    Practical Uses for Lead BB's?

For pure curiosity I picked up tins of Gamo 0.177 & 0.22 cal lead BB's on my last pellet order. No where near as accurate out of my R9 and other guns I've tried them in compared with traditional pellets. Are there any specific uses for them that they would be advantageous for? Curious. Regards

    CO2 pistol MV consistency

I understand CO2 is temperature sensitive. The small amount of evaporation with each shot lowers the temp of the remaining CO2 which lowers the amount of boil off for the next shot. Any guideline on how long to pause between shots to keep the MV at peak? Unless I'm misunderstanding something...

    Moderator adapter for R9?

Was shooting the R9 this morning when I realized something was missing... Wait... It's right here:eek: Yup! the sight appears to have recoiled right off the gun! Was thinking about putting it back on but also would like to put a moderator on the gun. Don't want to cut threads onto it but...

Lead Free Pellet advise - R9/HW95

I recently got an annual membership for the indoor range at New England Airguns. My local gun club won't allow airguns on the indoor pistol range since they say airguns are not powerful enough to penetrate the heavy rubber anti-spalling drapes in front of the deflector plating. NE Airguns has...

    Most accurate pellet for R9/HW95?

Just looking for some info from others' experience. My R9 is 0.177 cal. Curious from other R9/HW95 owners what they have found the most accurate pellet(s) to be. So far for the ones I've tested 1st place are the JSB RS's in 7.33gr (0.24" CTC @ 10m). Second and third place tie for H&N Match...

    Krytox - HPA Grease?

I am curious if anyone has tried Krytox greases/oils for HPA use. I was at a civil war reenactment this weekend and spoke with another reenactor who is a mechanical engineering consultant for Electric Boat in Groton, CT. He mentioned he has done consulting/design work for the Navy doing stuff...

Beeman R9 Fiasco - Chapter Three

After terrible vertical stringing with my R9 I put a Hawke red dot on it. Made a night and day difference over all attempts with a scope or the factory sights Interesting thing I noted is when I had the red dot zeroed it exactly eclipsed the globe of the front post sight insert. It's rated...

18th & 19th Century Projectiles in Big Bore Airguns?

I currently do not own any big bore airguns but I am curious if anyone has tried lead projectiles that would have been used as ammunition in historical 18th and 19th century military muskets. Specifically 72 cal lead round ball (Brown Bess musket) and Civil War 58 cal minie balls. I shoot both...

Beeman R9 Fiasco - Chapter Two

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the first part of the thread. Did a lot of follow up work with the R9 today. Cleaned the barrel and tightened a couple of stock screws. Then went to town in my basement 10m range with the R9, open sights only. Shot 10 pellet groups at a 10m target...

Beeman R9 First Serious Shooting - Fiasco

Finally got out to the gun club with my new 0.177 cal R9. So far so good with indoor shooting in the basement at 10m. Started today at 25 yards getting the scope (Centerpoint 4-16x40 AO) zeroed. Shot real low, not enough adjustment in the scope to get it on center. It was grouping pretty...
