The Future of PCP Airguns (7000 PSI Compressor Review Video) AEA 480bar PCP Compressor is here....

What almost all people don't realize is that air doesn't compress in a linear fashion. The common misperception is that double the pressure means double the shots. It doesn't work that way in reality. Even if there was a regulator that could function to reduce 7000 psi to a useable pressure...

    Tank gauges

Yes. Set your stop at the line halfway between 4000 and 5000 psi on the compressor. If you look closely, on the inside scale it will be at 310 bar. The red on the gauge has nothing to do with redlining if that's what is bothering you.

    Help, shoebox compressors issues

Are you calling a compressor a shoebox because it's small or is it the no longer available U.S. made Shoebox brand? I've never heard of a Shoebox doing what yours is doing. A real Shoebox requires a booster compressor for the first stage. Please post a photo of your compressor to clarify so...

omega 18 cu ft tank with new hp3 valve issues

@88trubocoupe, I reread your initial post and what you describe is how the tank and gauges are supposed to work. It takes no time at all for the gauge to jump up to 200 bar because the microbore hose has very little volume to pressurize. The foster check valve on the M4 slows the tank gauge...

omega 18 cu ft tank with new hp3 valve issues

I've experienced the same issue but it only happens with one PCP. My guess is that it's not the HP3 valve at all, it's the Foster fitting on that M4. What's happening is that the M4 Foster doesn't open and the pressure quickly rises as it pressurizes the hose to 200 bar before the check valve...

Official Thread - Alkin owners - check in!

I'm coming late to this party but I'll throw in my .02 cents. It is my personal opinion that compressor oil does not deteriorate or have an expiration date. My Alkin is 5 years old and only has 20 hours runtime total. I changed the oil after the first year but only change my oil every other...

    Best Compressor under $2,000

Carette compressors are not made buy or designed like a Tuxing. There is nothing similar other than they are both air compressors. IMO, the Carette is a more reliable air cooled design. The Carette factory sells higher quality compressors than Tuxing. I have experience and knowledge of both...

    N/A Weihrauch hw97 or Air Arms TX200

I own a TX200 in .22 and an HW97 in .177. You can't go wrong with either one but if I had to only have one it would be the TX200. The TX200 has a factory walnut stock, the HW97 factory stock is beech. The TX200 is a piece of cake to disassemble without a spring compressor. Mine did not...

3D printed DIY handle and stand for Acecare 9L CF tank

I've never seen a gauge larger than 1.5" diameter that has 1/8 NPT thread. A 2" gauge will have 1/4 NPT threads. I'd recommend getting 1.5" gauges from Directmaterial.com in Houston. The smaller tank pressure gauge on my Brancato valve was junk and very inaccurate. I replaced it with one...

3D printed DIY handle and stand for Acecare 9L CF tank

Nice work! You could check the thread pitch on those gauges and replace them with better quality larger gauges. I suspect the thread is M10*1 which is common on Chinese valves that have small gauges. If you check the website you ordered it from they should have that information on their...

what water filters are you using on your GX (cs4) compressor ?

I'd like to hear the opinion of others but a centrifugal filter on the output side of a cs4 seems impractical for this type of compressor. The compressed air output of the cs4 is a miniscule 11 liters per minute. This means that the air output is producing very little centrifugal force inside...

    Flow restrictor question?

Most check valves just have an o-ring on the post with the screw slot as yours does. The spring is immaterial but some have them. It's there as a check valve rather than a flow restirctor.

    Flow restrictor question?

It's not a flow restrictor it's a back check valve. It's spring loaded and that slot on the rear isn't there to adjust flow. It seals using an o-ring on the inside of that slotted back check stem. The slotted end is to aid in removing it to replace the o-ring. I've seen hex threaded brass...

FX Is the FX King a step forward or backward?

My opinion still stands. I like air guns that look like guns. The Impacts have an AR15 vibe and so on. I'm sure the King is functionally fine but it looks like a Rube Goldberg contraption with the short fore end and the angular gauges. I'm an old goat and it took me a long time to warm up...

    Tank / Gauge Failure

Bulging o-rings indicate one of three possible issues. The o-ring is undersized for the application. The valve hasn't been tightened down enough. The durometer of the o-ring is too soft for extreme high pressure use. Most high pressure o-rings are Buna 70 or Buna 90.

    Threads on carbon fiber tank

I use silicone grease on the tank threads but moly paste would work just as well. I've replaced fireman's valves on SCBA tanks and they can be a bear to remove after years being tight with no thread lubricant. The large o-ring is the pressure seal and lubrication makes for easier removal later on.

Tuning No Hobby For Old Men

"50 cents per round for PBs vs. 3 cents per round in airguns" I disagree with this comparison as it is an oversimpification. First of all, the only 3 cent pellets are .177 "off" brands. Larger calibers and slugs can cost more than lead bullets for reloading on a per unit basis. In a PCP, the...

Tuning No Hobby For Old Men

The run in with my neighbor happened 18 years ago. After she went on the warpath she would come over if she heard one pop that sounded like an air rifle being used. Spring guns are louder than PCPs and at the time of our confrontation there was no such thing as a PCP moderator to be had. The...
