HW/Weihrauch Who says springers arent accurate?

I have a 3" wide block on the forend of the gun which is a snug fit in a quality bag with slippery fabric on it. I modified my stock so both the block and the rear end of the stock are parallel to the barrel. The rear bag is also a close fit to my stock. The gun just slides straight back though...

HW/Weihrauch Who says springers arent accurate?

I'm shooting from a rest so there's no shoulder contact for me. The bags have the slippery fabric so the gun just slides back with little resistance. I'm shooting thumb up with only the thumb and a bit of the pad of the thumb touching the stock. To avoid pulling the trigger to the side I've done...

HW/Weihrauch Who says springers arent accurate?

I'm finding lately that it all comes down to the trigger release for me. I say release because I try not to really pull. If I concentrate on feeling like I'm pulling the trigger straight back into my thumb while thinking about both of them pointing at the x then I can still it almost every time...

.177 slugs from HW97 for 50 yard BR?

I'm wondering if the better bc of a slug might help a 15fpe springer be more accurate for 50 yard benchrest shooting? Any recommendations for brand or weight of pellet? Mine shots best with 10.3 gr heavy pellets at about 825 fps.

    This was before the cleaning!

HW/Weihrauch Who says springers arent accurate?

I thought you were only supposed to clean infrequently. I never cleaned my barrel much before, but I started getting wild flyers all over the place. I was blaming my scope but then I cleaned the barrel and it went away immediately. Just a few days later it started again. Same thing. Now I'm...

HW/Weihrauch Who says springers arent accurate?

A clean barrel really makes a difference with this gun. I don't think I've ever shot better. 21 Xs out of 41 targets. Only 4 nines.

Entry level benchrest scope for an HW97?

Thanks for this. Wasn't familiar with the Dampa mount.

Entry level benchrest scope for an HW97?

Thanks everyone for the input. I'll try to look at all the recommendations. My hw97 is very accurate at 25 yards. I've been using my scope at about 20x and feel like more would be helpful. Here are a few shots that indicate what it can do when the scope cooperates...I think the few misses her...

These sound like great scopes, but 3 - 9 magnification for bench rest?

Do I Have a Scope Problem?

I've been doing the same. I've kept working on it because my instinct was telling me that the gun was great. I never felt like i was throwing those pellets all over. This card makes it clear to me that it's not me or the gun.

Do I Have a Scope Problem?

Today I was able to clearly document the problem I'm having. Shot a bunch of targets from 25 yards on the bench. Top row I'm trying to zero. Finally give up at the start of row 2. The scope immediately shifts low right. I kept shooting the bull and every shot goes exactly in the same place. On...

HW/Weihrauch Who says springers arent accurate?

I really appreciate your input. I'm hoping I don't have to live with this. The gun is fantastically accurate but for the scope.

HW/Weihrauch Who says springers arent accurate?

That has been my conclusion but I want to be sure. I've seen it with two different scopes and it seems unlikely they're both bad. I am looking for a benchrest scope that will withstand the hw97. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Preferably under $500.

HW/Weihrauch Who says springers arent accurate?

I'd like some input from you springer shooters. I've been wrestling with shifting poi as I'm shooting. I'm actually seeing it pretty much every time I shoot, even with a different scopes. I'll be absolutely drilling the x but my poi will shift a few clicks after a handful of shots. I make an...

Entry level benchrest scope for an HW97?

I contacted vector about the 10 - 40 scope and they said it wouldn't stand up to a springer. Right now that's my number one priority. Any others have recommendations based on experience with springers?

Do I Have a Scope Problem?

Well I'm still going around and around about that scope. I shot my cheaper Accushot scope for days and it seemed reliably solid. No big shifts at all. I switched back to the Aztec and found myself chasing smaller but constant shifts in poi. I'd be right on for several shots then the poi would...

Entry level benchrest scope for an HW97?

The vector 10 - 40 x 50 is very appealing from a price standpoint. Anyone know how it might hold up on a springer? I've had problems with my Aztec Emerald.

Entry level benchrest scope for an HW97?

I'm looking primarily at 25 m benchrest competition sitting paper targets.
