Time to combine Open and Hunter?

I have said many times forf many years we should roll unlimited into the open class. I think hunter is doing fine already, though another mag bump to 24X would be nice. LD

    Supercharger water pump replaced

I got this compressor about four years ago, and really like it, as its quiet, shuts automatically, and doesnt get tanks so hot from filling fast that pressure drops a lot after filling. But, the water pump failed at about thirty hours, and again recently at about 250 hours. I upgraded this...

Events AOA Extreme Field Target GP & Air Gun Oregon Extreme BR and Big Bore Challenge- Ashland Or May 2-5th UPDATED

Wow, About time we had a class that might dovetail top scores with the actual target difficulty. Maybe now the luck of fickle winds can be compensated with airgun ammo capable of more consistent ten ring hits. I have yet to see 740+ scores in these events, even with the oversized plugs used...

    .177 at 100 yards that much of a disadvantage over .22,25, .30?

Biggest issue I‘ve observed with long range .177 target shooting is being able to see the hits well past around 75yds or so. LD

    Regulated vs Un-Regulated

I think the unregulated Revere is a very decent shooting gun, with or without a reg. I also suspect an un-regulated one can be easily fitted with a Huma reg should you desire to try with and without. I own the very similar Daystate regal, and it would be fully consistant enough in shot cout...

    shooting both eyes open ?

Shooting with both eyes open helps to locate the target more easily and quickly, and helps identify wind shifts via your wind indicator as well as moving grass and bushes. I also rely on offside eye to check my spirit level while aiming.

    MAC1 USFT Analysis/Overview

Bobby, The original barrel in your USFT was tested as I posted above. It was tested for group precision, but many folks call it an accuracy test so I normally go with that. Now bearing in mind great WIND resistance is of pellets is mostly a function of pellet design and barrel compatibility...

    MAC1 USFT Analysis/Overview

Bobby, Ive heard your opinion about your original USFT barrel many times, but this is the first ive seen you say it was “far from being selected”! Well, back in the day when the first of my guns were made, I came up with a barrel selection method that involved shooting a number of...

Andrea, my wife and companion of 57 years has passed on

To those that knew her, esp as having met her at the yearly Field Target events held in the past here at our ranch in Temecula, I will be holding a Memorial for her on November 4, 2023 here at our property. I can be contacted by email at: [email protected] or text at (951) 375-6962...

    Indexing the barrel

John, I think indexing does have a place in achieving better accuracy, and may also help in achieving proper scope/barrel alignment. After getting the barrel straight (o.d.) , and using a well centered scope, I shoot my first group with a mark near the muzzle at 12:00, then rotated 90 degrees...

    Most successful FT guns

Over its history, Its likely the USFT has won more AAFTA Nationals than most other models, if you look at PCP guns, though I suspect TX200 and HW77/97 springers have won more Nationals and may6be Worlds events in their own class.

Looks good Wayne, Though I don’t own a competitive gun for such extreme ranges, Im hoping to get lucky and hit at least a couple in the first three lanes, though Im pretty sure the fifth is beyond the reach of my unregulated old USFT (basically the same gun I used to win the very first EBR in...

    MAC1 USFT Analysis/Overview

Tim made more than one gun with identical serial numbers if they were different model. He serialized the barrel mounting blocks rather than the receiver, so swapping from angled blocks to upright hunter typically meant a different number series (not that much attempt was made to produce the...

D0ont give me that design credit, I just simplified it a little to increase reliability, but there are still too many parts and too much welded steel for my tastes. If it were my design it would be WAY siimpler! LD

    USARB Introduction

I have been shooting airgun BR since late eighties. I also shoot 50yds and even 100yd some, though 25m International style is preferred by me because the targets have been standardized for over a dozen years, so scores are easily compared. I have a covered range on my property for 25m and...

Air Rifle Benchrest Competition Barrel Crowns

Facing it off square is very likely to get it concentric, and if you do it within a recesses it will be protected from bumps. Get rid of tiny burrs with brass screw/lapping method and alls well.
