I have been officially shut down!

I'd suggest following the law to the letter (including the footage from edge of the road requirements, or open carrying rifles around your property that can be construed as brandishing) so they can't get a warrant and seize you and all your stuff, because they will if given lawful right to...

    D-Lead heavy metal hand soap

@Michael This wayward dust you speak of is another reason that I load silicone oil wetted projectiles. It keeps the bore and moderator spewing lead dust under control, and more likely to settle out any lead into a micro slurry form.

    Squirrel hunting preparation advice

A 40 yard zero distance is great for small game hunting. It gives you a "flat" range of 1" between 15 and 45 yards. Anything over that and it's best to consult the Chairgun App for holdover. Here's the charts for reference, based on the info you gave.

Please - Need suggestions for scope rings

It's odd that they would just get loose like that multiple times and with little use or shock load. So it could be an underlying issue also, like stripped threads, or a micro crack in either the rings or the scope tube.

Please - Need suggestions for scope rings

Based on this response, the issue is actually the combination of the scope tube and rings contracting in size in the cold and then loosing clamping force. Try cleaning the tube, rings, and screws and then then torqing them down evenly on the next cold day (outside). They shouldn't come loose...

    Western Airguns Rattler

With the Rattler 30 caliber you can tune it "down" to shoot lighter ammo for squirrel hunting and then tune it "up" with heavier ammo for racoon and coyote sized game. The .30 is a pretty versatile caliber; as is would be the .357, just not for squirrel meat.

Please - Need suggestions for scope rings

Sounds like you have the Dreamline Classic with the dovetail groove scope mount on top... The guy's with experience with the dovetail mounts will have to help out here.

What slugs did you end up with and what are the chronograph speeds?

    Western Airguns Rattler

There's a lot of power to be had in the Rattler 30, 357, and 45. The big bore's have barrel twist rates made for slugs, not necessarily pellets. The mid to heavy slugs fly most accurate, especially longer slugs in these calibers, and produce great speed to weight ratios for nice flat trajectories.

Please - Need suggestions for scope rings

@Blueduck Two things... can you give is a fairly accurate measurement from the top of the picatinny rail to the bottom of the scope tube, and what is the diameter of the scope tube? With these measurements we can give you a good brand and accurate height of ring that will clear rhe magazine.

    How much clearance?

@Rickstwowheels So long as there is no interference in regards to projectile clipping or on accuracy then you should be fine. Knowing whether there is clipping with a slug is hard to tell sometimes (especially with light clipping and maintaining fairly consistent accuracy) without seeing the...

    How do YOU challenge YOU?

(Bob, apparently I type really slow and was formulating reference to my archery training as an example while you were posting the same concepts.) You're spot on with building muscle memory. I recently read that it takes four to five dozen repeated repetitions to build that muscle memory.

    How do YOU challenge YOU?

This is similar to what we'd do on an archery target as well. "Float" the sight on the target dot concentrating on making smaller and smaller sight float within the target's dot until at the smallest float and also releasing the trigger in anticipation of the movement as it's coming back onto...

    Nightforce scopes NX8 or ATACR

Hahaha, maybe! They are a great scope for the money that is for sure. I'd love to see Nightforce start producing a small 2-12×32 with all the NX8 features. That would be a sweet hunting scope and good for the silhouette range too.

    Rookie Mistakes?

Here's a few off the top.of my head... Project gun's are a fun way to tinker and learn from. Even with a bunch of other great features, scope's with a high minimum power are best for bench shooting only and not so good hunting/testing. Dry firing to clear all the air from a cylinder can be...

    Nightforce scopes NX8 or ATACR

I've got three different models in the NX8 and like them all for their individual features. Like all Nightforce scopes, they are proven to be near bulletproof and the turrets are spot on accurate with my constant dialing. Size and length are good with the NX8 being fairly light, whereas the...

You should have the regulator looked into as a warranty issue so they will fix it and also on all the new production gun's going forward.
