    HW/Weihrauch Your grandpa's HW 30

It's amazing the amount of stuff we accumulate over the years. I might try a strip of old leather belt if there's too much wood to relieve. Unfortunately it's been too windy and gonna be too windy for conclusive testing in the next few days. I miss my basement range.

Good idea. Where'd you find the cork?

    HW/Weihrauch Your grandpa's HW 30

This is a good tip, thank you. This might help diagnose an 86 R7 I'm working on. I'm experiencing unusual accuracy issues with it. I noticed the action rocks in the stock before tightening. This is about all I left that I can change. I've never had this issue before but its something I'll look...

Don't feel bad. It's hard to not to get a bad refinish on beech stocks. They're tough to get a nice finish on. Stains don't take well to them. The factory basically spray paints them with a tinted clear finish.

Long shot, Dead squirrel with no penetration.

Maybe i should retitle the thread what 12fpe won't do at 60 yards. Lol

Long shot, Dead squirrel with no penetration.

I almost certainly hit it in the head because it made a distinct sound. I tried feeling around the fur around it's head for a depression from a hole, and nothing. It's bizarre.

Long shot, Dead squirrel with no penetration.

Today this hapless critter showed up at the wifes garden while I was working out an R7 tune over my chrono. I grabbed my Hw50 and took a shot at it's head. I heard it hit like nut. The squirrel slinked a few feet on the drive and went still. I was pretty shocked. It was at least a 60 yard...

HW/Weihrauch The new HW95n seems dry?

The piston is stationary when closing the rifle, (that's after latching to the trigger). Too bad you ain't my neighbor

They're not great about returning weekend calls right away. I wait until Monday and call then. I hate waiting for call backs.

The rubbing sound is annoying for sure. If it annoys you enough, send it back. Otherwise I'd use a little more and see if it gets better or worse. It's not an uncommon sound on new guns. There's parts still mating together. Whatever you do don't try to oil it through the transfer port.

HW/Weihrauch The new HW95n seems dry?

Here's some more pictures. This is a new Hw50 with the bead of slag. My point is if the rifles covered under warranty have them fix it. If you uncover something like this or a bad tubing seam like my other post you wont have any recourse.

HW/Weihrauch The new HW95n seems dry?

This rifle will have the new style cocking shoe. That should place the angled cocking load on compression tube slot itself and not the piston itself. The older style shoe did place a side load on the piston causing wear on the roof of the compression tube. It's less common on newer 95 family...

HW/Weihrauch The new HW95n seems dry?

AOA won't aprove anyone taking it apart. I don't think they'll even approve taking the stock off. It's worth a call. FWIW New springers aren't normally dead silent and smooth. I hear two noises in that video. Neither scarry. I'd keep on using it and see if it improves. You have a year warranty...

Is it the rubbing or the creaking noise you're talking about?

HW/Weihrauch The new HW95n seems dry?

Send it back. If you open it you void the warranty. There's been a rash of bad comp tubes that you ain't fixing.

Wow! That's a lot of wear on the left side of the breech block.

That's what people call a "Lube tune". They try to smother the twang out of the gun with tar or heavy grease. It only works so long before it diesels enough to ruin the piston seal. I'm sure you're aware of this. I'm just pointing this out for the newer spring gunners.
