I'm guessing because it started trending toward politics. GsT

JTS Anyone heard when JTS will be releasing their new rifles???

Usually new rifles are released a day or two after you get tired of waiting and buy something else... GsT

    old crony

Shooting Chrony. Good units for the price, but temperamental about lighting - artificial lighting solves the problem. Had one for a while, but its absolute value was never that accurate (as judged by comparative testing with other chronographs)*. That doesn't matter at all for most intents...

    Scope leveler...

Check the manufacturer's manual - if they say nothing, it's probably not guaranteed. If it is guaranteed, it's normally mentioned (in my limited experience). GsT

    Scope leveler...

There are a handful, and only a handful, of scope manufacturers that guarantee that the bottom of the elevator assembly housing on the scope is perpendicular to the vertical crosshair. With those manufacturers (Nightforce is one) and a set like that linked, you can get it perfect. Without that...

Sheridan Am I now an honorary American?

It's definitely special! I've forsaken springers, and most pump guns, but my Benjamin-Sheridan will leave my hands when you pry it from my cold, dead, fingers! The cost was prohibitive to me as a youth, so I didn't get one until the 90's, but that's my first "serious" airgun and it's a winner...

Any buy it for life optics?

Nightforce, if it suits the gun and application. (Probably some others as well, but not that I have experience with.) GsT

Any buy it for life air rifles?

It took me a while to realize it, but the gun I keep going back to is the EdGun R5M. Definitely not one I would part with. GsT

    Cold crony.

The "Shooting Chrony". Those are particularly sensitive to lighting (unless you've got the light kit, or some facsimile thereof). I suspect a change in lighting is probably what really made the difference. In most cases a short or open circuit would either shut off the chronograph or produce...

    Cold crony.

Change in lighting? What chrony are we talking about? Electronics shouldn't be affected until they're much colder, and for most circuits cold improves performance. GsT

    Buy once, cry once.

There are always caveats. The noob that buys an M4 didn't "buy once, cry once" - they bought badly. That's not the same as spending sufficient money to get what's right for you, the first time, which is how I take the phrase. GsT

The Airgun from Trigger to Target

It's worth noting that about 30% of the info is applicable to all airguns, but the real focus is on springers. I think I paid $60 for my copy around 2016(?). GsT

    Let's talk radar chronographs

Because the Garmin is much faster and easier to set up, and in my experience (echoed by many others) it never misses a shot (LR does, and optical chronys certainly do, particularly if lighting is poor). The Garmin (and new LR) are also small enough to just keep in your range bag, so you always...

    N/A How to determine FPS

You really can't know what your target is unless you're tuning for fpe, and you don't care what your accuracy does. It's an experimental determination. You try different velocities and test accuracy while noting power (if power is important to you). When you've fully optimized whatever you're...

    N/A Bye Bye Scopes!

Fantastic! I'd love to have my younger eyesight back - or even "just" 20/20. That's great news all 'round. I supposed I'd regret getting rid of some prime PB guns that would have been wrong to scope though... GsT

FX Fx impact barrel setscrew damaging

Not unless you really cranked down on it. The pellet should deform slightly, but should fall out on its own. I've used the lead shot "trick" in many applications and it's never been a problem. GsT

FX Fx impact barrel setscrew damaging

Another solution is to drop a piece of lead shot down the hole before cinching the screw. But yes, that's a poor design decision. GsT

AirMarksman Impact M4 "Copper" Backbone - An Honest Review - It's Disappointing - UPDATE 11/15/24

They're either just covering their tails, or referring to very *tiny* differences that most people wouldn't even be able to discern. A good anodizing shop can match a color to well within what you can readily see. Look at all the anodized commerical products from big brands - those brands...

    Fat barrel

The primary purposes of a heavy barrel on a PB are reduced barrel harmonics and heat dissipation. Airguns produce negligible heat and tiny harmonics. You'd really just be adding weight. GsT

    O-ring Phobia?

I love o-rings. They're cheap, easy to source, and readily removed and installed. Beats the heck out of trying to find a replacement for a PEEK or Torlon part that could have been replace with an o-ring... GsT
