    Barn Gun

One thing that has not been mentioned about using a light with a scope. The light needs to shine from behind the ocular lens in order to have a clear reticle picture.

    Barn Gun

It has a range and I used it on the lowest brightness, but it's still like shining a light in your eye. I like the PARD with the LRF and it's easy to zero. If you were going to turn it on and stay in the scope, it would be fine. But to use it to occasionally scan your shooting area to look for a...

Try a white light. The night predator hunters seem to do well with white light. Sounds counterintuitive, but worth a try.

    Barn Gun

It's very annoying... to me, anyway. You're blind in one eye for 10 - 15 minutes. One eye is good and the other is almost black in the low light. The advantage is... if you have LRF, you get a point of aim in the scope.

    Squirrel hunting preparation advice

The Trigger Sticks only releases the legs to drop, not open the tripod/ bipod. It's more for adjusting the height or tilt once you're set up. I find them no where near as steady as a BOG, but they are more convenient if you want to carry them collapsed.

My experience with a PARD has been that looking through the scope in NV mode makes you night blind in the eye used for sighting. I went back to a red flashlight mounted next to the scope.

    Backyard Pesting Dilemma…

What's the difference between baiting to attract an invasive species to the kill zone and those same invasive species arriving at your feeder intended for non-invasives? Consider your feeders coincidental bait stations. Dual purpose.

    How cold is to cold?

I haven’t seen a squirrel in a couple weeks. Some snow and temps in the 20’s, and lower, seem to have them holing up. Temps in the lower 30’s and windy days seem to reduce activity, too.

N/A CF Tank purchase advise needed! should i get the 700cc bottle plus the 6.8l tank or just the bottle and refill from car battery or maybe get 2x 700cc?

    When squirrels run

I made that my practice for a while and you’re right… if you catch both shoulders. Otherwise, there’s still a chance of running away. I went back to head shots and they don’t flop around more than a few feet.

    Umarex Notos

Doesn’t change poi by zooming in and out. Center reticle always stays the same. BDC markers on the reticle have different values as you change from the power you zeroed at, but they always stay the same size so you can see them at low power.

Why FFP scope? If you want to use at lower power the reticle gets really small, and they are usually more money. I’ve tried FFP, and for normal airgun ranges I much prefer SFP. For pellets, I’ve had good results from several 15.9 gr. Diabolo style pellets. Good balance between velocity and energy.

Wrong place, wrong time for the fat kat.

Yes you are! You prove my point. You transfer human attributes to animals. It really is not that way, but you’re going to believe what you want to believe.

Wrong place, wrong time for the fat kat.

NEVER, think in anthropomorphic terms. Animals are not humans and do not have human logic. They work on instinct only. Very little cognitive action. No matter how smart you think they are, it’s just instinct.

It never made any sense to me that ‘possums were tick hunters. Only made sense that they would grab a tick as they foraged for everything else. You will certainly never eradicate them by an occasional dispatch. My trapper/ game warden acquaintance was surprised I caught one in a DP trap.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34298355/ The benefits of Opossums may be over estimated. They get the same treatment the OP gave them when they show up in my DP traps, which is infrequently. They are nest raiders and we have turkeys on our property and birds eat ticks, also.

Still using the same setup with no issues. I did eliminate the red dot and kept the laser.
