    Sierra Nevada Varmint Hunt

I'm an 'ethical' killer. Ground Squirrels are simply future feed for vultures, destructive disease carrying little pests. the 'ethical' part, a few days back in my yard was a black tree squirrel, 10' away, no need to kill it. Had the same with a bunny awhile back, they get a bit overly...

    Please Explain

You'll still need glasses, unless you get the 'variable' lenses implanted. The, IMHO, huge downside is they are permanent once inserted so if the doctor twitches a bit you're off, they are also more expensive, by a bunch. They also, apparently, want you to do a few extra procedures to get the...

FX Another firearm guy falls victim to the airgun bug !

Yep, the soul suckers in Sack-0-Tomatoes haven't quite gotten around to air guns yet. "great alternative" is entirely dependent on you tolerance for abuse, generally self-inflicted and the balance of your funds to support the addiction....errrrr sport. I'm in the South Bay Area.

    Tequila Gun PCP

Probably could, except the pellet would pretty much fall out of the end of the muzzle IMHO. I've shot my .22 out to 50 yards, ok, "lobbed" is more accurate. Even managed to hit a 4" gong....eventually. You're only going to get so much air out of that short barrel and have it work well.

    Ground squirrel appreciation thread

I'm impressed, mine use cell phones to figure out when I'm there and stay down.

    FINALLY....they came out....

As much as I need my beauty sleep, I'll have to make the sacrifice and move my butt. I know they are out in the late afternoon/early evening but......I don't have any of those free, people demand to be fed, how RUDE.

AEA What factors can explain these results?

I'm guessing and only guessing but because a bad crown is 'fixed' the shots 'should' all be off, not suddenly getting nice. My Maverick .22 Compact has started acting up very recently time to double checking the double checking.

    FINALLY....they came out....

Broke with tradition and went out this AM (Monday), too late actually got there about 9ish, saw a bunch then they started to disappear, had some youngsters teasing me, my FX compact wasn't playing well with others, it was only 25-30 yards so not a big deal, running off of my tripod 18.3 AEA...

    FINALLY....they came out....

Well close, sort of. We have a member out in the Fresnoish area, been invited to go out there but.....I'm not dedicated enough to drive out there 2.5 hrs then back to rack up the body count. Hopefully soon someone else in my house will learn to drive so I can kill things instead of...

N/A I want a cheap, really precise pistol with enough power to do small game

50m and 3 or so cm of accuracy out of a 15cm or so barrel. THAT I want to see. Note, I'm very loosely converting inches to metric in my head so accuracy tends to go out the window. Note #2, I do have some pistols but I don't use them very much and I'm no expert on the new ones. I trust mine...

    FINALLY....they came out....

You're out around the Fresno area if my old memory serves me right. My Raptor LOVES the AEA 30.2's so I wanted to give it a work out today, it's also fine with the AEA 33.9 pellets. It's normally very windy but as I said, a perfect day.

AEA What factors can explain these results?

In my vast minutes of experience, are your speeds consistent? Is any thing loose, beside the wingnut? Scope on tight? Parallax assuming a FFP. Does this happen with anything but my favorite pellets? I've seen that where the bottom left is the first shot and something in the gun just settles...

    FINALLY....they came out....

Thank you, It was absolutely perfect today, zero breeze to swear at, cool air and warm sun. Hoping to get lucky again on Monday. I need larger stickers for my turret or way stronger glasses, new eyes or lenses wouldn't hurt either. Luckily I don' have an issue with the reticles in my Arken's .

    FINALLY....they came out....

Finally, went to my permission and the damn rodents were out, boy were they out. A true target rich environment. Everything from 25 yards to 125 yards. Luckily they'd mowed the weeds at the 125 yards so it was way easier to see the pesky rodents. Today I used my Raptor, 660mm 26in. barrel...

Thomas Air Damaged skirts, does it really matter?

That's pretty much what I'f found, short of being crushed the bend skirts work well, some have said that the air pressure pushes them out in the barrel. I'm tending to believe that.

    Skunks

I've used mothballs and they do work, they are also very toxic in the soil.

    Skunks

You can live trap them you need to enclose all of the sides and leave the ends uncovered, pick them up during the day, they are heavy sleepers. You can relocate them but odds are they'll starve, they are very near sighted.

FX FX guns WITHOUT POI Shift Issues

I'm moderately certain that their definition of 'straight' is significantly different than mine. They MAY be 'straight' prior to the lands being pressed in but I've got serious doubts that tube remains within .001" over 600mm I've rolled mine on a granite counter top, sorry but my certified...

N/A Suggestions on first PCP, small game hunting, and having fun.

Maverick .25 with a 600mm barrel, quiet enough with a Donny Mod, that nobody hears it 30' away, more than accurate enough at 125 yards. Wind will beat you every time but you stand a chance with the right barrel and slugs, 16:1 twist is good for slugs and pellets. Add a Carbon Fiber sleeve on...

    Tequila Gun PCP

Well this is interesting, you both are in the same state. Not really too far apart, give to take a day.
