    New blood here

Plan to shoot a shot string from the full maximum fill pressure to as low as you find the velocity useful. I like to shoot targets while I do this so I am gaining some accuracy information at the same time. You will learn from the shot curve the maximum velocity you can get and the pressure...

Water snake caught threatening baby bluebirds

I sealed up a hole in my crawl space wall and after that I had more problems with mice than I had before. I don't kill all the snakes I see, just the ones that are threatening a preferred animal. I will also kill each poisonous snake I can but so far I haven't seen one of those in the wild.

Filtering the Input vs. the Output of the Compressor!

I have no experience but my guess is the effectiveness would be a function of the design of the pre filter. With a big enough pre filter with good dessicant I see no reason it would not help. But I doubt it can eliminate the need to filter the compressed air too. Filtering the inlet seems...

    New blood here

Welcome. As you probably know, you will need more "stuff". A source of high pressure air (a hand pump, compressor, and/or tank (with a way to fill it), a Scope and mounts, targets, pellets and a chronograph. Many skip the chronograph initially but I think it is vital. You will want to...

    A good farm gun ?

Birds you could use a 177 but foxes and coyotes are at least a 25 caliber. For a long gun I would look hard at the Stoeger Ranger and Scout and for a bullpup a Stoeger Bullshark. Not real powerful but should get close to 50 fpe with 34 grain pellets. If budget permits an Umarex Zellos in 25...

    30-Yard Challenge

I've had that happen too. With my P35-25 it is less of an issue. That gun will give me another dozen shots off reg that are no more than 20 fps lower. But that is unusual. I think it was my P35-22 last time it happened and I went from 10s to 8s due to the elevation impact of the lower velocity.

    30-Yard Challenge

I'd be quite happy with a 190 in 18 mph wind. My better scores are usually 6 mph wind or less.

Some BR questions and troubles i can´t solve it

I will add that wind flags do not need to be purchased and expensive to be useful. I'm not sure this is applicable to Spain but mine are made of yard signs put out by politicians trying to get elected. I don't grab then until after the election but they are then of no use for their original...

N/A My biggest aggravation in PCP guns ..so far..

Vetmx raises an interesting and useful point. When I say that my guns do not change POI from handling type issues I am talking about shifts in POI attributable to the gun. I count little 1/8th inch at 30 yard shifts. But on virtually every 30 yard challenge target I've shot with any of my...

    Making Stocks?

I've made stocks for a couple of my powder burners and most of my airguns. My first airgun stock was literally softwood boards from the floor of my shop. I split a 2x6 in half on my bandsaw, planned the pieces flat, and glued a prepared 3/4 inch softwood board to go between them. I still have...

Newbie question on controlled filling of air rifle

I worried about filling my Prod from my Yong Heng because it only stores 60cc at up to 3000. I quickly learned that it still takes most of a minute and is very controllable. Now I use the YH to fill a bottle and fill guns from it including the Prod. That can be even faster but is also very...

N/A My biggest aggravation in PCP guns ..so far..

My Caiman holds zero well as do my P35s and Bullshark but they are all bullpups. For hunting/pesting the first shot is all important. Decreasing the hammer spring even 5% of peak velocity has caused first shot issues. 3% normally is nor a problem.

Tuning No Hobby For Old Men

I've never even investigated using a dive shop. My only bottle is an expired Scott air bottle. I am pretty sure nobody will fill it. I went from a hand pump to the Yong Heng filling guns to the Yong Heng filling the bottle which then fills the guns. That is still my preferred path but I...

    Taking the plunge into PCP

My first PCP was a Benjamin Marauder Pistol. It is pretty similar to the Notos in terms of power and the amount of air it stores. I hand pumped it and was pretty happy with that until I got an Avenger. Hand pumping a chamber 3 times as large to 1.5 times the pressure was not OK. So I got a...

Of Lasers and Cherry trees …

I've had loose bolts for holding the action in the stock throw one of my guns off before too. I usually grab a chronograph when a gun starts shooting poorly. If the velocity is higher or lower than it should be I start looking for why. In this case your lighter pellets would be going too fast...

    Snowpeak P35X fpe limitations

I drilled my P35-25 out to 85% of it's .25 bore or about .2125 inches and that did not create any issues, it just increased velocity. That is what I plan for the P35X I am trying to fix. It's entire passage is about .165, 75% of .22 inches. I think I am at the position of being able to do it...

    Snowpeak P35X fpe limitations

Have you looked at the side of the action block for the pin that holds the valve body in the block? I forgot about that pin and the post by "Racing" caused me to go look at my P35X action block and sure enough, there is a pin through the action that secures the valve body to the block. I...

    Snowpeak P35X fpe limitations

If there is a small, like1-2 mm hole on the small end and a bigger tapered hole on the big end it may be an alternate valve seat. You may have one with a small outlet in the gun to limit power.

    Forum moderator enforced rules

There is a very easy way to avoid a conflict with the owner of AGN on this topic. If you want to freely discuss moderator design do it over on GTA (Gateway to Airguns). The owner of that forum has no similar concerns. There was a GTA moderator that did but it got clarified and is now clear it...

    Snowpeak P35X fpe limitations

If you haven't already tried increasing the hammer spring you should. You always want to know what the peak velocity you can get with any regulator setting so you can tune the gun. The P35X hammer spring in the one I have is not the same as the spring in my bullshark which is the same as my...
