    N/A How accurate is a TX200.

Is the .452 size inches or millimeters? If its a metric size then it should be 4.52mm, because .452mm is a tenth of the size of a .177".

    Weird thought/question.....

They were available in the late 1950's / early 60's as I recall. I only saw them in .177 wadcutter style. They were very light, and hopelessly inaccurate beyond a few yards even from a rifle barrel. I don't know who made them, or where.

Introduction - New to PCP after 40+ years with Pew Pews

Pew-pews? Are they used to shoot moo-moos or bow-wows?

Air Arms would like to know - Do you remember your first air rifle?

BSA Ladies pattern rifle. 77 years ago, when I was seven. My elder brother was given two BSA's, a standard and the Ladies. I got the smaller one.

    A little humour.

For those of you who thought you knew all the terms used in shooting, here's a few you missed. Musketeer. Salty liquid from the eye of a sad mouse. Optical sights. Organs found above the nose of any normal person. Cross hair. A furious animal similar to a rabbit. Restore. Often another term for...

Crosman Break barrel, bore rust and sight alignment issue

fishing43 is right, vinegar is a no no. It will get rid of the rust, but it will also eat into the steel after the rust has gone, and you can't see what it's doing if it's in the barrel. The only de-rusting chemical I use is Evaporust, it removes iron oxide but does not etch steel. I recently...

    Motorhead contact…

Perhaps he means the BSF 55, it was made in Bavaria.

Smooth twist barrels. Revolutionary new barrels.

The 'smooth twist' idea is far from new. Holland & Holland, English gunmakers, built a rifle which only had the last three inches rifled in 1885. It was called the Paradox, and was the invention of Colonel George Fosbery, the same man that invented the automatic revolver.

Tuning No Hobby For Old Men

I'm 84, and believe me age does take its toll. I have just overhauled an Original 35, a Webley Mark 3, and a Mark 1 Airsporter, and a few days ago got a chance to shoot them. My old muscles were not up to it and I had to get a friend to cock them for me. So it's back to my trouble free S410 and...

N/A The most PSI ever in an airgun?

Not exactly an airgun, but what pressures are obtained in light gas guns? I'm sure they exceed 32,000 psi.

    N/A Hi from Somerset, UK

Don't worry, I like banter. And yes, I am a taxpayer, and have been for over 60 years. Born in Cornwall, only been abroad once. When I was younger a gun license was the equivalent to £0.375 from the Post Office and entitled to by an airgun or a shotgun and ammunition. The Post Office needed...

    N/A Hi from Somerset, UK

Airgun shops may be more common in the UK, but that doesn't mean we can buy anything there. I wanted to buy a tin of pellets. Simple enough, you'd think. But I have no driving license, no passport, and no Firearms Certificate. So could not have pellets. Had to get someone else to buy them for...

    DIY Chronograph

Sorry for the delay, my book was on loan to a friend. It is in "The modern shotgun" by Burrard, Vol II. I have the 1955 edition, your library can get it. The method was invented in the US by a man called Bradford in 1942 and improved on by Weller in 1952. The US Patent Office will most likely...

    Whiscombe Air Rifle Why?

The opposing pistons counteract the movement of the gun while the pistons are moving. But the air that pushes the pellet in one direction pushes the gun in the opposite direction. Make that "Absolutely no FELT recoil" and I'd agree, because the recoil will be too light to be felt. But it will...

    Whiscombe Air Rifle Why?

Dual, it was the claim that the Whiscombe has no recoil. I know that there is very little recoil from one, but if the pellet goes one way the gun goes in the opposite direction. It's simply a matter of momentum. Or rather, momentum in its simplest terms.

    Whiscombe Air Rifle Why?

DualMag, I know Isaac was right, my question was just me querying a ridiculous statement.

    Whiscombe Air Rifle Why?

rj222, my apologies, I should have added that it was a joke. I thought it was obvious. No recoil? So Newton was wrong?

    Musical airgun target

So THAT'S what they mean by tuning an airgun. I've been doing it wrong for years.

    DIY Chronograph

I doubt if you will get a patent as it looks like a new version of an old idea (1940s). Not holding that against you, though, and I hope you make a successful chronograph.
