@Ezana4CE I went ahead and ordered a emporer v3 to try out. Ill report back how it compares to the ronin. I dont care for the kami length but I would like something just a bit quieter when im at the bench testing.

I do agree that if the sun beams directly into the lens for extented periods it will damage it. But don't take that comment too seriously. As long as you understand the lens dont like looking at intense heat you'll be fine. If you dont run a cap at all and you shoulder your rifle walking around...

Thats good to hear. I looked through the hole and didnt see any damage but I noticed some foam poking out after those initial shots.

I only have a mus2 from STO.

I tried the 6" extension chamber on the ronin before with the 45, but I didnt hear enough difference in sound to warrant running the extra length.

I have not. Is that what you run on your big bore rig? Is it noticeably quieter?

I just finished up my test with the moderators. They were almost equal in sound but the ronin had a deeper tone. The STO felt quiet, but had a sharp higher note that pierced my ear more. Not sure if that makes sense. It was almost quieter but louder at the same time. The ronin was almost louder...

The thermal lens should not be pointed at high intensity heat sources. Its not good for it. So no staring at fires or the sun. I use my thermals about equal day and night. I have had around 40k in thermal fun in my lifetime. Never had any issues. If you are in a position where the sun is beaming...

None of the thermal scopes or scanners should get damaged using them during the day time unless you are staring into the sun or other high intensity heat signatures. That goes for night as well no fires or other similar hot things. @Ezana4CE have you seen thermals not rated for daytime use?

Have you tried any other moderators on the bulldog to compare?

I dont disagree with you. I have it in my hands so ill be the test dummy for now. Hopefully they wouldn't sell a product that wont stand up to moderator big bore power levels. Im only running around 500 fpe so nothing crazy. Ill try to get out today to give it a true test and I will definitely...

Im as curious as you guys are. The Ronin does a decent job. I use one on my 257 texan and its pretty quiet for 180fpe. The ronin also works well on my 34" barrel texan 45. Ill try them on both texans most likely. Not sure if barrel length will make a difference if they are roughly the same...

Can you tell if the internals are the same as the older model texans or did they upgrade things inside to handle the new valve and higher pressures?

The zeus is not light weight, but the red dot weighs nothing so its not horrible. I only hunt from a ground blind or treestand so weight isn't much of an issue for me. I was shooting off of the Caldwell stinger sitting at a bench in the woods where I have a 20, 35, 100, and 150 yard range...
