I purchased a Crosman 2240 to tinker with this winter. I have a steel breech kit for it plus a DTP adapter. I don't want to stick a ton of money into a red dot but a reasonable amount. Any decent options I could get on Amazon? Also can't decide between reflex or tube.

Hello gentlemen, here's an update. It appears that the problem was indeed the pull weight adjustment screw was backed too far out. I gave it a half turn in and it is performing as it should. Thank you to all that contributed to helping me find the solution.

As Bear-of-Grayling said the first stage creep is there by design. My gun sometimes doesn’t have it.

Yes, it is a new gun. I tweaked the adjustment screw counter-clockwise only slightly to lighten it up a tad but that’s all.
