Bushbuck 45 appreciation thread: Post Pictures

I really like the look of walnut carbine and have held a couple at AOA. They balance very nice and the weight is not bad, but I just haven’t read enough good about the carbine to push me to spend that kind of money on one. The longer Bushbuck seems to work well for people, but I just can’t get...

Bushbuck 45 appreciation thread: Post Pictures

You could probably call AOA and ask them. Kip would probably know or could point you in the right direction for the twist rate. I had asked folks on here a while back about real time use of lighter slugs on low power, but the consensus then was that low power was pretty much useless. That...

    AEA aea challenger

Thanks. I was hoping the 6.9# was correct, but I guess I could live with an 8# gun. I'd probably just put a 16 - 18 oz scope and probably 4 - 5 oz rings on it, so I'd be looking at about 9.5# total. I guess that would be manageable.

    AEA aea challenger

Sorry to tag into this thread, but I’m also considering getting a Challenger in .35 or possibly .30. I am really mostly wondering about the weight. The specs say the standard 24” weighs 6.9#, but I asked a vendor to weigh one and they came up with 8#. I’ve also seen several references in this...

    Cleaning of air rifle

It kind of depends on what the surfaces and finishes are. For wood and blued, I use the same as for my other guns....lemon oil for the wood, gun oil for the blueing, and Ballistol for the internals.

Airforce Airforce & RAW at SHOT Show 2025!

Yep, dovetails work fine for me too.

Whenever there are lawmakers involved, I worry! :ROFLMAO:

Airforce Airforce & RAW at SHOT Show 2025!

True, though they seem to be getting closer to PB's in the "kick" department with that advertised FPE! ;)

    N/A .

I believe you are over thinking this, but I could be wrong. I'd say the absolute best recommendation would be to go straight to the Illinois DNR and ask them specifically what the requirements for airguns are for hunting deer. It looks to me that the only requirement (from your second...

    Western Airguns Bushbuck Carbine

Did you change the hammer spring back to an original? I think Shamu had trimmed his back 2 1:/2 coils if I remember his last post correctly.

    N/A charging problems

Make sure you've cocked the gun before you try to pump. That takes the hammer spring pressure off the valve seat. It may also need to be charged a bit higher before your hand pump will start filling. Sometimes if there's not enough or no pressure to seal the valve, a hand pump doesn't have...

N/A Contemplating a Big Bore Bush Gun

I'm guessing at almost any airgun velocity it's going to be heavier the better if hitting brush is involved. There are also the unknowns of how much and how big a stick, branch, leaf, etc you might hit along the way. It's an age old discussion for PB's too. I'm curious what others might think...

Just curious, what suppressor is that?

N/A Best *Obsolete* or *Discontinued* PCP Rifle?

I’d guess it would be pretty hard to not throw out the venerable Benjamin Discovery for that title. I wonder if any other airgun got as many people into the pcp game for as inexpensive as they were or spawned as many modifications.

    Sheridan Sheridan Bluestreak or Silverstreak

There’s a pair of bluestreaks in the classifieds right now.

    SHERIDAN BLUE STREAK/SILVER STREAK

Yep. I can verify that a .20 caliber Sheridan will easily kill a rabbit…I won’t say how I know though….😀

    SHERIDAN BLUE STREAK/SILVER STREAK

Washington State just made cottontails legal for air rifles a couple of years ago, but only for .22 to .25 caliber guns. They also began to allow forest grouse to be taken under the same rules. Those are the only small game animals that are legal. There are other small animals that aren't...

    HW/Weihrauch Springer Fever

I never caught Covid (knock on wood), but I caught springer fever this year and I’m still battling it. Is there a vaccine available?? 😀 This is the result of the affliction….I hope I don’t catch something else in 2025!! First was an HW50s in .22, then it was a. HW95n in .22, followed by an...

N/A Dual Options Big and Little

Constant Acceleration Pneumatics 9mm CAP Recluse. From their website, it'll shoot a 68 grain round ball at 1189 fps or a 209 grain bullet at 350 fpe. I'm sure that's on the high power setting, so on one of the lower power settings, it would probably shoot a bit slower and give more shots for...

    N/A .457 options

How about an AEA Element Max in .457? This is mine in .510, but the .457 is identical. Weighs just under 7# as it sits with the Leupold VX3 1.5x5, 36.5" long, shoots in the 475 - 500 ft-lb range (.457 may be slightly less FPE), and after sighting in will shoot 3 untethered shots less than 1"...
