I agree. Revamping the filter would be a good way to do this. Giving us a better elimination scheme (forum, topic, category<prefix>, brand, price, relisted <y/n>, etc.)

This, or if there was a function to restack the ppsts so that posts with no comments that are over a week old get put back on top for a limited amt of times.
