    The ol' shooting jacket question.

Who's turn is it to go to Clifton for a quick "wellness" check?

What do you use as a stage timer.

Exactly. I just have to keep my phone on, and if my wife senses that I'm having fun for more than 90 seconds, she'll shoot me a text to pick up something from the store or do yard work.

What do you use as a stage timer.

That's awesome. I started to write an app for Garmin watches that would count down and give prompts at 60 seconds, 30 seconds and 10 seconds. But then my give-a-crap meter ran out and I put the project on hold. Maybe I'll go back to it this winter when I'm less busy.

Air Venturi Avenge X Fill Nipple Issue

Something is definitely broken. The check valve screw is super loose in the cap, I don't see how it would possibly seal. So I need a check valve, possibly a fill probe and maybe an end cap. I sat on hold with Air Venturi for 10 minutes while I found the parts on PA, so I just hung up and...

Air Venturi Avenge X Fill Nipple Issue

Yeah, this is what it was doing so I replaced o-ring 129. One door opens and another closes (or something like that)

Air Venturi Avenge X Fill Nipple Issue

So in my never ending quest to get my Avenge X to stop leaking, I just replaced the o-ring on the fill nipple (part 127). While doing so, the check valve (part 125 in the image, referred to as the Non-Return Valve Screw) fell out of the end cap. I dropped the check valve back into the cap and...

What do you use as a stage timer.

I use a Sper Talking Timer. $30 on Amazon, I use it for practice and matches. I use to attach it to the scope with velcro but I have since made a bracket so it sits near my parallax knob. Some guys attach it to their hat, but I like to have it on the gun so it's easier to start when the stage...

    Air Shootist's 2024 NRL22 Season - Write-up & Discussion

I feel for you. At our match today, I couldn't decide between shorts or long pants. I opted for long pants, which was fine but it got up to almost 70 degrees at the end of the match, so I could have gone either way.

WFTF Rules: butt hook and legal shooting position?

I think intention is the key here. It is not legal to adjust your butt pad to allow it to rest on your knee or thigh. It is perfectly legal to bring your knee up to support the rifle. If it wasn't, we wouldn't have adjustable hamsters hanging off the front of our rifles.

Resources Reticle Choices for field target

The problem is that most of the better PRS-type scopes don't focus down to 10 yards. Also, when picking a scope for Hunter, don't get too much magnification if buying a FFP scope. The reticle on a 35x or 40x scope get's real small at 16x . I wouldn't go much bigger than 20x for a FFP scope, SFP...

Also, you will eventually want to upgrade the string attachment points on the targets, they will get shot up. I'll have Cloud come on here and tell you what string we use and the stainless steel leaders we put on the targets. Now I'll start the Cloud summoning ritual: ***HMMMM*** ***Are RAWs...

Which 12fpe Rifle do you shoot?

HW97. If you are going to shoot sub 12, might as well shoot a sproinger. I have also shot a Delta Wolf, Hammerli AR20FT, Walther LGV, Marauder, probably something else I can't recall. The nice thing about WFTF is that with a Anschutz rail and a butt hook, you can make almost anything work.

    Field target club details

Sight in targets - we use the plastic real estate signs Little flags to mark the shooting lines - ours are big metal pipes with the lane numbers, but you can start small. We also use a home depot bucket on each lane with the lane number on it and that's how we move the targets around to set up...

Field Target is an arms race.

I agree. So what's the issue? If a $1,200 rig can be competitive, go be competitive. If someone wants to spend thousands more than that for marginal gains, let them. I can't be distracted from looking at the target by looking at someone else's gun (or wallet). This sport (and life in general)...

Diana mod 54 airking pro for FT

If you find a 54 with "PCP accuracy", buy two and send one to me. Air Arms used to make a semi-recoilless TX200, but even the accuracy of the TX platform combined with a semi-recoilless action couldn't overcome the fiddleyness of the sled system. The 54 sled is less fiddly, but the gun is...

Air Arms Let's see those TX200-SR's!

Not sure where you heard this, but a TX200 SR would be considered a springer. Because it's a springer. Same as a Diana 54 or a Whiscombe. The easy way to tell if a gun is a springer or PCP is if it has a big spring in it that has to be cocked or if you hook up an external air source to it. The...

2024 TEXtreme Field Target State Championships Match Report

    Air Shootist's 2024 NRL22 Season - Write-up & Discussion

I feel like the PRS air rifle rules came about in part because some range owners think that an air rifle slug at 80-100 fpe will blow their targets apart. Here are the pertinent PRS rules, with some commentary from me- 2.4.1 Airguns MUST follow all projectile speed restrictions as other rimfire...
