    100 yards and beyond…?

I'm one of those that likes shooting long range. 100 feels too close. Steel at 300 & 400 yards. Squirrels at 120 - 300. :) Built up a long range slug gun too powerful to shoot at Starlings safely anymore. So just started using a low power .22 pellet pusher I have. Still got to shoot slugs out...

Skout Why do Skout use Poly O rings?

I spoke to an engineer at an oring manufacturing plant about polyurethane a couple years ago. He said Buna is good for static applications. Poly. is for maintaining a seal with moving parts and wear resistance. I have 2 -90 durometer. polyurethane orings inside of a balance valve I made...

N/A Best *Obsolete* or *Discontinued* PCP Rifle?

@Ezana4CE - Here's a couple photos of the Kalibrgun Colibri .22 cal. Left handed shooters wouldn't be very comfortable with one. For the 2 reasons I like it. Cocking/Safety. It has a left hand short 1.300" straight slide cocking mechanism, with a toggle type Safety under the shooters finger...

N/A Best *Obsolete* or *Discontinued* PCP Rifle?

The Colibri is the only .22 cal. that will be with me until kick off. It's a one of a kind. Anti double load, cocking like all guns should have, safety right where it should be and in a small light weight gun.

How to Use a Corbin S Press - A Thread Geared Toward Beginners

Like NWIND said, I would go for heavier slugs in .25 cal. . About 31 - 50+ gr. would be better for a .25 cal. The cores should be cut as close to a clean flat cut as possible. Put those side cutters away. Wrong tool for the job. Those angled cuts can break a HP eject pin tip off if used to...

    Projectiles, purpose? Necessity?

Looks like your thread is becoming a safety meeting. Common sense, know whats behind your target. I thought overkill is making a Starling explode into pieces, from a moderately powered .22 or .25 cal. slug. Projectiles, purpose? Necessity? I don't shoot pellets anymore, so I won't make...

    Vulcan 3

I considered one of these guns. The mag. is too short though. Won't handle a long enough slug for me. I would make these changes if I did get one. Make and install a balance valve in it. Open the valve throat and poppet size. Lower reg. pressure and install a much lighter hammer spring...

Skout .25 Barrels, And Slug Selection.

Like @Motorhead said, "slugs built for the guns". I doubt 2 tins will be enough. I've shot lots of these slugs. That high BC .2475" slug was made for the Evo .25 platform. I thought the Evo guns were setup for this slug out of the box. Might be good to call Skout.

N/A Average Distance of your shooting sessions?

I would be in these two guys camp. Shooting for fun and pushing the limits. Average distance would be 300 - 500 yards is what blows my skirt up. I do get the short range pellets use though. The term air gun is misleading to me. The manufactures have done a great job making "pellet guns"...

Kalibrgun PCP Slug Gun- True effective range with slugs could be farther than we think.

I was always shooting pellets at 100 about 7-8 years ago. Once I started shooting slugs, it was a lot more challenging to keep pushing the range. I've been pleasantly surprised just how well this setup works actually. No more mod's. for this gun, just trigger time now. Shot a couple sub MOA...

Kalibrgun PCP Slug Gun- True effective range with slugs could be farther than we think.

Here's a paper target I shot at 300 yards with 5 - 5 shot groups on it. Conditions were very light wind. This is the only target I shot to confirm that my slug-gun and slug were fairly consistent to at least 300 yards. With a high BC 50gr. - .25 cal. slug I make and a custom slug gun I've...

How to Use a Corbin S Press - A Thread Geared Toward Beginners

You got some shooting in...(y) Rather rewarding to shoot slugs you make, isn't it? "Air test" no lead. Just checking that the punch, die, and HP extractor pin don't collide. @ Ca_Varminter - has a good explanation of how to go for the lightest weights safely. 3 years ago someone sent me...

How to Use a Corbin S Press - A Thread Geared Toward Beginners

Bingo... The punch will go past the bleed hole as it begins crushing into the ojive. Most likely making the punch flash after that. I always slowly air test to be sure nothing is going to hit. Especially since my older punches don't even have limit lines.

How to Use a Corbin S Press - A Thread Geared Toward Beginners

So you decided to get a press. Good for you.(y) 7+ years of using this equipment has shown me a few things. I would suggest making small ( 5 - 15 ) batches of slugs in about 1-2 grain weights for a .357. 1/2 gr. increments for smaller calibers. Then test fire them. Lots of slugs won't shoot...

    Hollowpoint Skiving/Serration on Slugs

That someone is me. I wrote that article. You asked if someone had "firsthand experience trying something like this?" Well I thought I did. Thanks for schooling me about expansion. By the way a 12 oz. can of water (Hillbilly test) is about as close to a pigeon or squirrel as it gets. Very close...
