    Bonkers for Hunting

Cheers, much appreciated! And if you're up for a bit more reading (with a cheeky bit of self-promotion), there’s plenty more stories over on my blog. Pop by for a nosey!

@JBHC @scottg0814 Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment!

    Bonkers for Hunting

Cheers for that! There’s been a bit of a kerfuffle with the blog, and it’s currently playing hide-and-seek with some of the posts. I’m on the case, though, and should have everything back in tip-top shape within the next few days. Thanks again!

    Bonkers for Hunting

As Friday’s meeting trudges along like a slow-motion car crash, I find myself gazing out the window. Grey clouds are hurtling across the sky with a bit too much enthusiasm for my liking, heading towards the setting sun as if they've got a dinner reservation. Inside, my colleagues are droning on...

HW/Weihrauch HW97K "fussy" barrel might’ve been more a case of me being a bit fussy myself!

Thanks! Working on our holds is a never-ending saga, isn’t it? As for the Crosman range, it’s still widely available here in the UK, but they’re not that much cheaper compared to JSB or H&N. I haven’t bothered with them in ages, but I reckon it’s worth revisiting. Funny enough, back in the...

HW/Weihrauch HW97K "fussy" barrel might’ve been more a case of me being a bit fussy myself!

After a good bit of fun doing some proper pellet testing with my HW97K .177 sub12, I’ve discovered something rather amusing. When I first got it, around 12 years ago, it was seemingly only fond of JSB 8.44gr pellets—or so I thought. But I reckon the real issue back then was probably my...

    N/A PCP to Springer Recommendations

If you're planning to shoot with open sights, the HW77K is the better choice. It’s essentially the same rifle as the HW97K.

    N/A PCP to Springer Recommendations

Not that it makes a world of difference, but thinking the "K" stands for "Karbine" is, I suspect, a cheeky little British invention. In fact, it was Hull Cartridge, our very own UK importer, who first started using it. However, in Weihrauch’s world—the Germans—the "K" actually stands for...

    N/A PCP to Springer Recommendations

I’ve noticed, and it could just be down to my own skills, that when you push past 12fpe, accuracy starts to go a bit wonky. The recoil and shot cycle get harsher, which doesn’t do any favours for precision. I regularly take on pigeons, corvids, and squirrels at 70-80 yards with my HW97K in .177...

    Thats a pretty 95

    N/A PCP to Springer Recommendations

It looks like you’ve done your research on possible candidates, and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those in terms of quality and accuracy. You might also want to consider adding an Air Arms Pro-Sport to your list. Personally, I find the best accuracy with springers in the sub-12 FPE...

    Tune a Beeman R7?

    Amazing!

    Tune a Beeman R7?

Lol, I feel your pain! I wish I could, but those cheeky blighters at the range aren't going to be impressed by an adjustable buttplate and diopter sights, even if I could shoot the wings off a fly at 30 meters. It's a bit like when they roasted me for ordering a cosmopolitan at the pub instead...

    Tune a Beeman R7?

Thank you both for sharing your expertise! My HW99S (50S) at 10.5 fpe is a breeze to cock, pinkie easy, but then again, I’m a big bloke who never skips arm day. Mine's been tuned (not by me, of course), so perhaps that makes a difference. I didn’t mean to start a debate about the HW30 vs...

    Tune a Beeman R7?

Well, I agree with you—they are wonderful little rifles, and you basically summed up the "unless" points perfectly!

    Tune a Beeman R7?

Good point, they are indeed a bit easier to cock, but I reckon most men can manage a 10-11 fpe HW50s with just their pinkie, so that's not a huge selling point for me personally.

    Tune a Beeman R7?

Unless you specifically want a lighter, smaller, short-range plinker, there’s really no need to get an HW30 if you already own an HW50.

    Diana diana mod 23 year?

Never heard of LUX—could that be an import/export distributor mark? Does it have any Diana branding at all? Fun little plinkers, indeed, Stan!

    Diana diana mod 23 year?

I wouldn’t bet on finding a stamp there, mate. As far as I know, if there’s nothing on the butt pad, compression tube, receiver, barrel, or cocking link (only visible with action open), it’s likely not there. However, if it does bear the Model 23 and Diana logo (whether or not it says “Made in...
