I’ve owned 3 impacts, and sold them all. Lol. I like tactical rifles, but the impact has never fit me well. The crown is just so damn comfortable.

Update - had reasonable weather to do some chrony work today but accuracy will have to wait for snow to melt.

Two observations - First observations is I have been testing without a moderator because relative sound not that bad. Probably needs a moderator if I lived in the city.
Second observation is 13.43gr and 16.2gr JSB pellets don’t fall into the magazine. They need a push to seat (skirt issue). I have seen the same issue with a Daystate magazine, so not a FX issue but a JSB pellet issue. Also, the original JSB 13.43 pellets would occasionally not advance the magazine. Didn’t have the same hangup issue with JSB 13.43gr redesigned.

Looks like I can raise regulator setting to 110 - 120 bar and tune with power wheel and micro hammer adjustment for both 10.34gr and 13.43gr redesigned JSB pellets. Not sure I will have the flexibility to do 10.34gr, 13.43gr (redesigned) and 16.2gr JSB pellets with just the power wheel. Next step is to up the regulator pressure and re-chrony the 3 pellet weights. Once I get the chrony data I will see if I’m going to try to tune for 2 or 3 different pellets. Tuning for multiple pellet weights will eventually depend on accuracy.

Had good enough good weather to test various hammer adjuster settings for a 120 BAR regulator setting with JSB 13.43gr redesigned pellets. The final setting gave me the following:

Original hammer spring adjuster was at .725” for the 98 BAR regulator setting. Final adjustment has it at 0.659” for the 120 BAR regulator setting. See picture to see what I am measuring/adjusting.

Still had enough snow to keep me from testing accuracy. That will have to wait until next week (hopefully).

Put action back in the stock and did some additional chrony work today (still too much snow and cold for accuracy testing). Initial data suggests I can setup for 13.43gr and 10.34gr pellets with just a power wheel setting change. Also looked at JSB KO 10.03gr and NSA 12.5gr slugs. Results for these slugs look promising (depending on accuracy). It looks like Saturday may be a good day for accuracy testing if the weather predictions are correct. Here is todays data:

I agree that multiple guns with individual setups are the way to go. I don't mind the initial work required to get a gun setup the way I want it, but once setup I don't want to mess with it other than shooting it. My intent is to set the Crown up for 13.43gr pellets. If I can shoot, accurately, 10.34gr pellets with just a power wheel setting change all the better. I have a FX Impact MK2 P/P with 600mm .177 barrel that I will setup for slugs now that I have the Crown. Also have a HW100 setup for 10.34gr pellets that is very accurate out of the box (no futzing required). I didn't take your comment as harsh - just truthful.

I don't have a barrel band on my Crown and haven't really done any significant accuracy testing since I have tuned to the new regulator setting. Jlowe's comment on the first page had a picture of his Crown with a barrel band. I suggest you PM him with your question.

Nice rifle. The FX Crown MK2 is my favorite PCP rifle. I recently bought a .177 barrel kit for one of my Crowns. I haven't done must tuning with it yet so I will certainly pay attention to your settings. I even have a big pile of 10.34 pellets waiting. Thanks for the info. By the way, when you measured your groups outside edge to outside edge of the farthest holes did you also subtract the pellet diameter? That will give you the center to center measurement that most people use and you'll have even smaller groups .

I am sill testing my .177 tunes but so far the 8.44 grain in both the JSB label and the FX label did great at about 870 fps. Both also lost accuracy as I approached 900fps. In the 10.34 grain weight both the JSB and the Air Arms labels did really well in the same velocity range. Most groups from both pellet weights were well under MOA at 50 yards.

Interesting that you mentioned the Pelletgage. I was using one as I was testing my pellets. I found a definite improvement in groups using the Pelletgage vs just pulling pellets from straight the tin. I am now a believer in sorting the pellets with the Pelletgage if I'm shooting for tight groups.

Yes, that should work fine. If shooting pellets, I suggest installing the .177 barrel with the "P" transfer port in the down position. You will see this at the end of the barrel kit that gets inserted into the rifle. What pellets will you be shooting, and at what target speed?

Nice set up. Looks really good. If I had better hands I wouldn't hesitate to get a .177cal. I am always very interested to hear what pellets and slugs work well in the .177cal Crowns though.
I bought 2 Mavericks when they first came out. Next I planned on buying an M3, but got side tracked and bought a Crown MKII. Then I bought another one, and the other day I almost bought another one. They are really light and have a great feel to them as well as easy to shoot. You will enjoy it. I bought the one below used from Utah Air on Black Friday. I was all ready to buy the VP Refurbished version when this one came up for the same price with the scope and mounts. It's a 22cal. Right now I am waiting on Bullet Central to get back in stock the Carbon Fiber Shroud and tensioner kit for my 600mm .25cal version, which, hopefully work great.
I'm not a fan of pre-ordering airguns but if a Crown MK3 came out, I wouldn't hesitate to get on the list.

Hi Keith,
It is not a difficult task to change barrels on a Crown MK2. Did you also get the .177 pellet probe? You will need a couple sizes of hex key wrenches and a box wrench( can’t remember which size) or an adjustable crescent wrench will work too. I’m actually heading out the door right now to go shoot my .177 Crown. I can get you the exact size wrenches when I get back. Or, there are a couple good videos on YouTube showing how to change the barrel on a Crown MK2. Remember that the MK2 with the “super light“ barrel style is different than the older Crowns so find the correct video to watch.
