10m rifle

I’ve got a Crosman Challenger and it’s awesome for 10M shooting. LOTS of shots from a fill. $650-ish from Champions Choice. Trigger can be worked on to make it VERY good. Mine is safely breaking at 1.5 ounces after a spring change and some polishing.

An Avenger is no slouch either and in .22 can be used for 10M or 100Y so it has a lot more versatility Than the above. The Challenger is kind of stuck at 10M since any outdoor use the pellet will drift significantly due to wind and light weight pellets.

I agree with rsfrid. The new Crosman Challenger with a Lothar-Walther barrel is hard to beat for the price.

I used to compete with an aluminum stock rifle and had a coach help me set it up while I was in the standing position. I found that although there was a lot of adjustability I did not use many options. This was because it made things less stable during the shot process. A couple advantages with the chassis style were the grip position and ability to find a precise balance point that worked for me. Also, we would sometimes use adhesive tire weights to do this.

Daisy 599 is $600 through CMP

M853 with the trigger job will shoot as good as the shooters fundamentals dictate. It’s 100% worth it to own one.

I second the Hammerli AR20. Bought one used from AOA and am amazed how accurate it is.
Shoots all day long on a tube of air. The stock is very adjustable, not pellet picky, great trigger etc.....
Mine is the low powered, 550 ft/s, 5.6 fpe.
Now the scope you put on it is what drives the price up!!!
Plus, it fits the "cool" factor for the young ones. If that's what gets them to shoot, so be it!!

Not necessarily are parts from Anschutz unavailable after 5 years. About 5 years ago a buddy bought a used Anschutz 2002 SSP. After shooting we realized the velocity was all over the place. We assumed it was the valve. Looking around for a valve we discovered they weren’t available anymore. Out of desperation we emailed Anschutz in Germany. They sent a valve. When replacing the valve we figured out it wasn’t the valve but the receiver was cracked. At this point we thought we were screwed as this rifle went out of production around 1990 and it’s 2019. With nothing to loose we emailed Anschutz Germany again. They replied back that they had the part and it was on its way. For both parts they gave a price but asked for no money until the part was received and we were satisfied.

Though I was really impressed with Anschutz Germany having the parts to get the rifle going again I would by a FWB 600 series SSP rifle. The Anschutz has a cast metal receiver and was a pain to work on.
