10m standing shooting challange Dec 3 -- Dec 15 -- Closed

Week 2 post:

Open to 177 or 22 caliber rifles. Separate targets designed for each caliber. New updated target with smaller 10 ring.

Rules:

1. 10 meters away or 33 feet.

2. 177 caliber or 22 caliber only with according target. Any choice of optics.

3. Standing position hands held only.

4. Scoring is 10 points max per target.

5. If you break the line, you get score for highest line broken. Black center is 10 points, -1 point for each line from the center.

6. 40 Shot match. Shoot two printed cards.

7. Post pictures of two targets by end of day December 15 to participate in this round.

8. No shooting jacket, no shooting glove.

Newbie here and I would like to participate in this match and have a question or two regarding scoring. To comply with rule #5 does the pellet diameter need to completely break the line for score or just touch it? Also can you use a scoring aid ie an Eagle Eye scoring Gauge?

It does not need to break the line completely, just touching it a tiny bit counts.

It is self scoring honor system, just be honest with yourself. You can use any scoring aid you have at your disposal.

Vasyl, these targets look smaller than the ones we were using last year. Is that so?

Chas, they are harder targets, rings are smaller. Overall area is about the same. You can blame Leo, he was getting almost perfect scores and wanted bigger challenge.

On the bright side, if you start shooting better your will notice scores improve every round.

My entry for this round is 177 + 171 = 348. These newer cards are a lot harder to get good score.

Kidding aside the official 10m air rifle target has a 0.5mm 10 dot (not a ring) and 5.5mm (.22”) 9 ring. And you shoot that with aperture sights (no scopes allowed). Compared to that target, Vasyl’s target is still easier to shoot.

189 + 189 = 378

Not only have I been shooting the old one, I had 150 of them printed on stock. I can always use the targets so no big deal. I did get a clean one tho and was looking forward to posting it.

Maybe I’ll jump in next week.

Guys, you can post old targets, they are very similar, here is the difference in points scoring:

In New target smaller 10 ring added. If pellet hit close to center it is 10 points, otherwise if it is on the edge, it is only 9. 

The rest of the lines are the same distance, last line break worth only 4 points.

Here's my entry shooting an AA S510 using AA 10.3 pellets -166+167= 333. I did a little better than I thought I would.

Best I could do this round is 345.

I had shot the old target, but used updated scoring. Hopefully it's legit.

Morning, this is harder than I thought. I shot a couple targets but didn't take time to score them or take pictures. but I have a question. I don't know if Im imagining or if Im just rusty shooting offhand. Im shooting a daystar huntsman that I use for field target. I haven't shoot it that much offhand. When shooting the 10M offhand targets the "lock time" on this rifle seems really slow. Follow thru is even more crucial compared to My small bore rifles. Or am I looking for an excuse

Nice second card Phillip. I'll post mine tonight. The only saving grace for me is that if these targets were 1 inch Field Targets, they would all be knock downs!
