Yep, I’m surprised these guns don’t get more attention. Light, well made, accurate (LW barrel), versatile, easy to fill, etc....

I’ve had mine for 5+ years. It has been setup as a 6fpe backyard 10m target carbine a 12fpe ground squirrel carbine hunter. At 12fpe I still get about 25-30 shots.

Multi shot capability would be nice, but still it is a great overall package.

They are amazing, and for the $$$, unbeatable. @ 12 ft lbs and w a good scope, they are silent w an aftermarket ldc, and 50 yard accurate for ground squirrels. I've had a few, this one has the bigger transfer port, Huma and the sweetest trigger of any of my guns. The .177 pellet is v efficient w fur bearers.

Field target, airgun silhouette, silent practice in deer camp or while still hunting, grabbing a tree squirrel for dinner, it does it all. Eminently customizable and easy to work on w 1,000's of mods out there- #1 recommendation for those wanting a real airgun pistol. The only downside is it's a little front heavy for 10 meter, 1 hand target shooting. This one has the collaspeable stock, fits in a normal knapsack and is my 'sneak gun' when out in legal areas where a gun welding hiker could be disturbing to other nature lovers. They don't know I have it, or shooting it, unless they stumble upon me weilding it.

My 1720, as set up for pistol field target, averages sub-3/4" five-shot groups at 50 yards with 8.4 grain JSB Exacts at 800 FPS/12 foot-pounds.

I've been responsible for something over a half-dozen folks buying 1720Ts for field target, virtue of my advice, "Unless you're willing to spend over a thousand bucks, the Crosman 1720T is inarguably the best choice... for about half that much money!"

Took 9 shots at 30 yards with bag and adjusted zero. Like results but shooting at 10fpe (jsb10.3g @ 660fps and jsb8.4g @ 725fps). I am getting 33 shots with 25fps spread or 20 shots with 10fps spread depending if going from 2900psi to 2100psi or chopping both ends a bit.

I plan to use for FT, what is the recommended way to tune for say 11.5fpe? Thanks.

Don't like to cross post, but there are years of 1720T experience at the GTA forum. This is a great thread and forum, and we stand on the shoulders of those that came before us. Everything I've learned was from following FuzzyGrub at the GTA.

This is just one of many threads open...

The ft guru, Tom Holland has a little video out in Airgun Warriors about using the 1720T w his slugs- v impressive

Again BIG apologies for cross referencing the other guys; much of what is known is located there and we can bring over what we learn going forward to here.

Scott The Motorhead is also a whiz on these pistols....

Oakhonor, Nation,

I also have that video posted on this forum on a different thread in the Field Target section of this forum.

Also, during this weekend, I am going to film the disassembly, light modification, and reassembly of one of my 1720T's, in order to make it a legal 12 ft.lb Field Target rig. At the moment, it's legal, but way underpowered.

Aside that, the 1720T is probably THE best value as far as pistols are concerned. That being said, all of my exploits in my current video, are done with a 100% stock 1720T, right out of the box.

I don't want to hijack this thread either, I'll put out that video within the next day or 2, I'm sure that you guys will be interested, because I think we're all starting to go nuts staying indoors.......I know I am...

Thanks Tom, and not to hijack this thread either, your podcasts on Field Target, ""field target podcast" - episode 12: 'Getting started in WFTF" s a must listen.

Grips- I've used this guy and he is fantastic. Maybe not as pretty as a laminate, but my 1720T grips fit like a fingerprint. The other benefit is that I can move these grips to any of my 22XX Crosman pistols.
