N/A .177 for slugs (primarily at least)?!

I'll tell you right now.I've never seen an air gun.In 177, that did not like those slugs. Doesn't matter if it's a pcp a pump or a brake barrel. 900 feet per second will be your friend, you can go down to 840, but stay in the 900's and higher.
Weeeell I got into it again and decided I’m going to lower the reg a bit first to shoot through the 10gr at a reasonable speed and lowered the reg maybe 10 degrees beyond original setting (90b) and now the damn balanced valve doesn’t want to seal off… kinda glad the u3 will not be balanced…

Aaaand now I learned something… was thinking how to seal off the barrel and remembered the red cap that came with the gun. I guess that’s what it’s for?! Worked :)

Alright so Saturday I got into the gun and reset the reg from the 1/8th turn I made back to where it was from factory ( I made my own marks). From there I did slightly over a 1/4 turn, I would say I turned the regulator up about 100⁰ CC. These are my results! I gotta work on the hammer adjustment but I need to remove some material from the stock. But at the moment even with the spread it's shooting fantastic!

I only got to try the 15gr VK in 1771 and 178. .1771 has the larger spread.

How many bar do you think your reg is set at or when does it fall off the reg ? I really like PCP's that make good power at low reg settings. I like to keep mine under 8 lbs but it looks like they preform well . Nice .

130ish bar

Glad you got it fixed! I should really do the same, I have about 3k 10gr slugs lol

I am around 80 - 85 BAR on the regulator, and it dont go very much higher even if i change to 16 grain slugs.

I have to go some ways with the hammer to get a even shot string, if i try to choke the rifle shooting 10 grain pellets at just 56 bar, well the barely opening valve do keep stuff under 900 fps but i do not have a flat string, though things are still flying OK with that, but i do prefer to have a flat string and so the light stuff do fly a bit fast as i can not get a lower regulated pressure out of the Huma regulator.

If the original epic regulator can really regulate to 45 BAR, that would be insanely cool, and a lot of shots should i deside to go off tether.

It is a bit funny CUZ i recall shooting my same caliber / length barrel maverick i seem to recall being able to get to 970 fps with just 70 BAR, that i am pretty sure the Two rifle will not do.

I have not tried to make the assisted valve slam the valve faster, or for that matter keeping the valve open longer, which is a option on the Two, i might play around with that option come long summer days at the range.
Also this not least in regard to shooting 10.XX gr pellets, which i did enjoy last summer.

I’d guess inhave the U2 reg at around 80-85 bar now, shooting 10gr mk III at 970 with a 600mm barrel. Not complaining about that :) ES and SD are a bit worse than with the higher reg (ES 14 / SD 3 vs 7 and 2) but maybe I have to give it a little more hammer… didn’t do a shot count and I barely ever fill to 300b anyway (my fill bottle goes to 300b so I have to decide which gun gets the first “full” fill, usually that’s the P3…). But I’d guess 250-300 shots from a 275-280b fill :)

Just came back from a quick range session at factory settings. 33 yards is all I could get. 1026 fps.
Shooting ok, no pictures, no bench, tripod and chair. once sighted in everything could be covered with a quarter.

Definitely room for improvement and what an air hog. Gonna back down the regulator a little and see what my options are for hammer adjustment with the carbon fiber stock.

lol yeah, your reg is probably at 90b but the hammer slaps the valve wiiiiide open out of the box. I’d suggest to take the hammer back first to see where you’ll land once you dial the hammer back. Will help a lot with efficiency as well. You got 700mm barrel?

Take the reg out first, the current pressure will be written on it with a sharpie. Then mark it on the housing, but and adjustment screw so that you have a reference point :)

But then counter clockwise to go higher, clockwise to go lower. When you tighten the nut it’ll rotate the adjustment screw a tiny bit clockwise right before it’s tightened properly again, keep that in mind. You don’t need to do much, quarter turn is already 20-30 bar I think but @JaceSpace1369 knows better :)

You hit the nail on the head with the markings. 1/4 turn is 30-33bar, 1/5 turn is 20-22bar, 1/8 turn is 13ish bar. Every 10 bar will net you about 30fps.

So, I did a quarter of a turn on the reg. I also backed out the hammer spring 1.25 turns.

I’m down to 840 Over the chrony. Maybe a little slow but what a nice soft mouse fart sound.

I’ll shoot it here, as is,before I do anything else just to see where the accuracy went. By the sound of the gun I could probably shoot most of a tin on 1 air charge.

So my griffin and NSA order came in, the 23gr fit in the magazine with maybe .5mm of clearance but it fits and rotates without issue! Given the current tune they should be moving around 810fps, 20gr around 860fps, 14gr going 1030ish

Do you think you've found a gun you want to call yours for keeps?

How do you feel about your GreenBeans?
I sure do! I'm still trying to figure out how to drop the ES and SD but yes. I seem to only really have this issue currently at the high power. When it was shooting 16gr at 900fps I was able to get he spread down to under 10fps no problem.

Even at 900 29fpe ain't bad at all for a .177. The higher BC of that slug at that relatively lower velocity, will lend to still very decent energy on target at 100 and further
