N/A .177 for slugs (primarily at least)?!

Yes, true about slugs in Kalibrgun mags. FWB are primarily 10M target rifles. I don't know why your insistence on shooting slugs unless you feel they work better for hunting or very long range shooting. That could be debated. Pellets can be quite deadly on small game as many have said here. The problem with slugs is that they have a narrow sweet spot for accuracy and you have to push them hard. My RAW shoots 13.4 gr Zans at 30.6 fpe, and it was specifically built to do that. I never shot pellets in it, but I guess I had better try. I doubt if many other rifles can be tuned that fast. Maybe an Impact.
My biggest thing with .177 slugs is that I shoot high expansion slugs like JSB KO 10.03gr or any Varmint Knocker slugs weight, because the walls are thin enough to grenade inside the target even if they arrive at 700fps. So there's using no passthrough of the slugs itself, but cranial explosion. And I can shoot them as far as 100yds without problem. Ofcourse I'd have to watch for the wind, but if it's windy enough I just pick a different caliber.

Also I've had luck shooting the 13.43gr slugs at 930 and up, 10.03gr at 860 and up to 1070fps, although much better between 900 and 1000.

VK between 730 and 1050

I shoot more pellets than slugs and probably take more critters out with pellets as well. However, I want the ability to take them further and in a bit more wind as well, hence I want at least one .22 and .25 capable of precision and power with slugs. With the .177 I want one that can definitely do slugs since I know I’ll not stop with it at 50 yards… and I am already skeptical how well these tiny things will do in a bit of wind (maybe without reason but I’ll see I guess…).

If slugs doesn’t work too well the EunJin 16 &17 grain pellets great in just about all guns and leave a good terminal effect. In a Daystate RW doing upwards 40 ft/ibs I imagine these pellets leave sunlight through the cavity on smalle game. Particular the blunt 16grain have a good effect. Its the best huntingpellet as I see it. Blunt and flatnosed bullets in generel don’t need too much speed make shockeffect.

I can tell you they do MUCH better than pellets do in wind.

As a professional pest controller its understood that you can’t choose the weather conditions to ply your trade. So slugs, may make more sense in that respect for you. Myself? Since I pest as a hobby, and though I have had many kills on pigeons out to 104 yards. I prefer pellets for my uses. Since its a hobby for me, I limit my shots to 70 yards, +/- a few feet… The majority of my kills from 25-40 yards. That said, am looking forward to reading more about slugs and their use by fellow forum members.

Most of my pesting is done with low fpe 177. I have no need to shoot slugs.

But I want to.
My justification process assigns a lot of points to that as a reason to plot a gun purchase.

How low? I'm bored. And I like experiments. I'll drop my avenger down to whatever energy and pop some KO 10.03s into some ballistic medium. Pretty much. As soon as you tell me

5-7 fpe gets the most shooting for hosps and chippers. Wadcutters rule!
I still want to play with slugs In either 177 or 22. Maybe someday.

Yet the last gun I I bought certainly will make the power to shoot slugs, but I set it up to shoot wadcutters.
Gotcha. Yeah 5-7 I have no clue. I doubt it would even deform the tip. I'm still at 12 at 100y

We just started seeing sparrows again in numbers in the last weeks. I can't wait until chips come out of torpor. I'm gonna put them right back

Man… You were right as to Krale’s shipping speed. Out for delivery with UPS, ETA 10:00am. Got a message yesterday that I have to pay $86 in duties/fees, which is fine of course and I could pay directly online. Something to consider in TYD price though when comparing. Anyway, less than 48 hours TMD in NY. Same as pyramid for the slugs I ordered an hour or two after the rifle… similar experience with Mundilar a bit ago, so two great options to spend my remaining EUR from a different life on rifles I don’t expect needing warranty and/or know that the manufacturer will deal with me directly no matter the seller :)

Varl

Im a big-time griffin fan. But in .177. I gotta give it to Varmint knockers. I got some metal on meat last night. The VK 13.5s at 860-870 were nuts. Even with birds... Pass through weren't guaranteed.

Nuff said. Eurasian dove.

The chest cavity was basically hollowed out.

These slugs explode on contact just inside of the animal. Only the base plug of the slug exits. The rest fragments. Completely here's the left overs if slugs shot through my sparrow analogue ballistic medium. An 85/15 or 90/10 mixture of beeswax and lard or tallow mixed together melted, and poured into a hole at the top of a plastic easter egg. Once solid wrapped in a thin layer of leather from an old couches upholstering.

I'll see what I can find out for ya. My akela is currently doing fifteen ish foot pounds with the stock spring cut and transfer port fully open. I'll see how lo I can get it with the transport port mostly close. Even with 13.5 grainers going sub 700 feet per second at 20 yd. I'm getting about a quarter inch group.
