N/A .177 for slugs (primarily at least)?!

In case you don't already know, for a given tune, slugs of the same weight will shoot a lot slower than pellets. You'll have to retune the gun, then find the right slug in terms of weight and diameter, that will shoot accurately in your rifle.
Although this is true, I have found that a lot of slugs that are nearly 100% lead, will shoot jusy as good at lower velocities. This has been my case mostly with Varmint Knockers, and JSB KO 10gr

I only lost 8 fps when going from .177 jsb 10.3 pellets to 10.03 KO mk3s . I think the dish base and the thinner walls on the .177 mk3s really helps them seal plus the slightly less weight. I was really surprised because my .22 caliber 17- 25gr slugs lost way more than that when comparing to pellets.I just checked the FX Hybreds and they have the same base design as the mk3s . I don't see how the NSAs or H&Ns could seal as well . No big deal for the high power shooter I suppose.

Also the length. Longer slugs typically lose more. Way more contact surface area with the barrel. In my avenger I lose about 20fps between 10.3 pellets and 10.03kos. In the hatsan. About 11-15

I think that contact area helps with accuracy. The reason I don't get as good as accuracy with light .22 cals vs light .177 slugs . The short .22 cal 17gr slugs don't have enough contact area and don't stabilize as well . Imo . I'm pretty sure I loose around 20fps with the .22 slugs ive tried . But not the .177 10.03gr KOs . I need to check 10gr Zans and see how many fps I loose compared to 10.3 pellets. But since I don't like switching around ammo once dialed in it might be a while. I agree with more surface area drag reducing velocity and that's why I was surprised with only a 8 fps loss.

Consider yourself lucky these two guns have pretty tight bores. So I'm assuming thats the difference. But it's constant.

5-7 fpe gets the most shooting for hosps and chippers. Wadcutters rule!
I still want to play with slugs In either 177 or 22. Maybe someday.

Yet the last gun I I bought certainly will make the power to shoot slugs, but I set it up to shoot wadcutters.
Unfired, 5fpe, and 6.7-7 from from my Akela shooting .1771 13.5gr varmint knockers into 3 foam cups stacked with water inside each. The 7fpe stopped at the last cup and did not damage the bottom of the cup. While the 5fpe was sticking out the bottom of the last cup on the corner.

But that 2fpe makes a huge difference even at low velocity.

From the way my patchworm has less resistance compared to the hw30 it probably does have a larger bore . It has low SDs with pellets but haven't run a long shot string with slugs . Maybe I'll run a string to check the slugs SDs and ES if I get some free time . It is around 33° outside now and that could slow things down a bit .

Here's a couple 61 shot strings with pellets. The one at 955 is with CPHPs and the other with jsb 10.3s .

Yeah, I got my gun from craill, albeit the wrong one in less than seventy two hours. They tried to make it right, but it was easier for me to just keep it. I order a v3 177 synthetic and received a v3 .30 wood lol.
I'm surprised.
I have ordered stuff from them maybe 5 to 10 times and everything has always been shipped spot on. Same with a friend of mine.
The credit card payments have been flawless as well. I know people are suspicious about that.

I suppose You got a nice deal on the second rifle, the right one? You must have.

I have to say people at Krale are okay as long as You keep giving them money. When it comes to warranty and such, they sure aren't in a hurry.
Typical.

I haven't gotten a second rifle from them yet, but in the near future I'm looking to do so.

Well, I’ve been playing with the U2, 16gr HN at 845 and 10gr MK iii 995 out of the box… which should be 20-25fpe, enough for small stuff… now I only have to figure how to tune it properly to send the HN a bit faster without making the MK iii go supersonic…
As my JSAR is set up currently at @ 35 FPE if you accidentally shoot a 10.3 g pellet or light slug it is absolutely supersonic and LOUD !!!
Longer barrels help get the speed up as does a high power valve design.
Leaned on in .177 it can muster @ 40 fpe and it's no joke set as such !!! Just an air hog :(

Your reg is likely set around 100-115b, every 1/4 turn is about 27-30bar and is an increase of 100fps for my .22 I would go adjusting the reg first before anything else.

Great info!! I’ll probably give it a couple more shots as is to break it in and then bump the reg 1/8 turn at a time or so until the H&N are around/north of 950. Good plan?

P.S.: man are those slugs tiiiiinyyyyy :) it’s fun though and as said above no joke based on numbers!
