.177 hades accuracy terrible

Hmm, I haven’t seen much on the .177’s. The .22’s group well for me but I discovered they don’t expand a meaningful amount in the real world, even when sent out at 900fps

For short range stuff, a good wadcutter has proven more effective in my experience. That’s especially true in .177 where there are number of good choices like the Meisterkugelns or the Supermags. The chances of finding one your barrel likes are quite good.

Conventional wisdom says run them slow or accuracy will suffer but I’ve found the Supermags to be good all the way up to 900fps:

And oh boy do they hit with authority!

Best I can tell, the Hades have the potential to wriggle their way into a middle ground between wadcutters and domes. Not pushed around by the wind as much as a wadcutter but also not packing quite the same wallop. And similarly, more thump than a dome but influenced more by the wind. It’s no accident. That’s what the Hades is, a blended design between a wadcutter and a dome with a menacing name and a higher price. Same recipe as the Baracuda Hunter Extremes.

So for example I look at them all something like this:

0 – 30 yards: wadcutter
30 – 60 yards: hybrids (Hades, BHE, etc.)
60 – 100 yards: dome

I still have four tins of the Hades in 177, 1st time around my Vulcan and my Uragan did not like them, I shoot all my 177 pellets at about 940FPS Even the 16gr JSB,,, I back down the grain to 10 gr on both my guns, So far the best pellet is the JSB, second is the FX and third is the H&N 10.6

I am going back to try the Hades again..., I am going to shoot my 177 guns like 177 caliber guns not like a 22 so thats the reason I backed both back down to shooting the 10gr pellets.

They have not been too bad for me? My wildcat mk1 ST barrel really likes them@880, Brocock bantam liked them a little, they are a hunting pellet so I haven’t really tried for .5 @ 50yds, but they are close? They don’t expand much! Sure wish crow mags would shoot past 25 yds! But they don’t for me.Surprisingly, my new favorite is the H&N hunters, they do expand a little better and shoot really well out to 75 ish.

Mutant 22 OK, I did some shroud swaping to day , Put a Veteran 22 shroud on the Mutant 22 , Had to take the barrel off, Put it all back together and sighted it in at 48 yards , Loaded up with the Hades , Dam where is my pellets going Five shots , One hole, The Mutant is a sweet gun 880 FPS. NON CZ barrel, Got one but its to pellet picky . Wished I would have gotten in on the Mutant 177 deals but missed it by a **** hair

My Orion BP not shooting the Hades well has been bothering me. Hope this helps others because my mystery is solved. Single load them. I know I know, single loading a .177 sucks in some guns, but the frail little skirt can’t handle some magazines. When I switched to single loading them, they drilled one nice 25 caliber hole at 30yrds. Look on the bright side, you won’t burn up your pellets as fast.

I have had decent results out to 40yards. They are not as spot on as the regular 10.34's, but are acceptable, within reason. This is just my experience at my limited range. I have shot two tins and have come to the conclusion that 35 yards and in they are accurate and pack a punch.

I have seen several mentions of them not expanding well. I have observed the opposite. They open up and spread out impact shock. I tried many types of target materials and ranges.

As you can see in the photo the range was 25 yards for the wax cast of the impact area pic, hard earth clay was used as target material. The pellet is in the location it stopped in the wax pic.

Actual pellet shown in close-up (with an unfired pellet as reference)

Im just a do it for fun, test stuff and such. I'm also financially challenged so have do all my stuff on the cheap

GAMO Magnum 10.34 HADES 975fps @muzzle, 875fps @target. Used Caldwell Chronograph at the stated ranges with result being the average of over 15 shots.

Have fun shooting

Wow that is great! I had high hopes for these pellets. If I put them in the 900’s its 2” groups at 30 yards. Oh well! Good news is this gun is an absolute laser with nsa 12.5gr slugs.
