N/A .177 in 700mm slugger is it diminishing returns??

I was recently told by a very good source that a .177 slug rifle longer than 600mm is a waste. ( A longer barrel for the 177 will not give you more accuracy or power capability, friction will overcome the velocity difference and will nullify the results. All you gain is a longer barrel without any other increase. )

Thoughts on this guys I’m having trouble buying into that???

All has to do with valves overall flow potential and dwell ....
It is the maintaining of pressure within the bore that keeps accelerating a projectile.
Once the expanding air can no longer provide continued push, the remaining barrel distance becomes drag and any extra length becomes a deficit.

Loosely the basic physics of whats happening.

When I added the 711 mm or 28" slug barrel to my BRK Ghost and Daystate Delta Wolf, I added 70-80 FPS to my existing setups for the original 600 mm or 23" barrel (y) :) And the accuracy is definitely still there ! 🎯 :)
That is .177?? If so that is exa the data I’m looking for. According to what I’ve heard a 700mm in .177 will only reduce FPS and provide no additional accuracy.

Not my experience at all testing the new 711 mm / 28" slug barrel in BRK Ghost .177 HP and Daystate Delta Wolf .177 HP (y) 🎯 :)

Soon I will be testing in a Daystate Red Wolf .177 HP setup as well (y):geek:
