.177 Refurbished Gauntlet continues to impress me.

After quite a bit of testing I finally settled on JSB 10.34's averaging 890 fps. 

Here is an average 10 shot group at 45 yds (1 mag). Winds 5-7 blowing from my back.

 Most of my rifles are considered to be top shelf,however I have found it to be a lot of fun getting a so-called entry level rifle to perform better than expected. The Gauntlet is on my list when I can free up the time. To have a project gun that won’t break the bank if I mess it up is a fun thing to do. I did this last year with a Marauder with good results. I looks like you have started down that road with your Gauntlet. Damm!!! this sport is great

My wife refers to me as the "Mad Scientist" when I get to tinkerin on the lower-cost airguns. LMAO!

Impressive group !. That's about .75" at 45yds. Wonder how it would perform if tuned to 12fpe for field target WFTF. If it can do the same group, it would be a good project to tackle. Maybe reduce hammer spring, maybe lower pressure to achieve 12fpe.

Tried tuning a Maximus regulated at 1100 psi shooting 10.34 jsb at 700 fps and the best I can do is about 1.5"/2" at 55 yards. A little too wide for WFTF. Have heard that top guns for WFTF like the Steyr groups at about .25" at 55 yards.

My gauntlet .177 continues to impress me as well. This was a 5 shot group at 51 yards. Literally the day i got it i swapped out the stock shroud for a donnyfl short and a tatsu and proceeded to shoot this beauty of a group! Loves the aa 10.3's, and has quickly become one of my favorite daily shooters and backyard plinking guns as its whisper quiet w the tatsu and deadly accurate out to 75 yards

Jking, it's Damn Hard not to be impressed with a sub $300 rifle thats capable of that kind of performance! 

I have no desire to impress others. This is especially true in regards to spending money. I get my kicks from being able to do more with less and hitting what I'm aiming at while doing so. This isn't to say that I don't appreciate the $2000.00+ airguns and the pride/satisfaction thats goes along with owning them,Because I certainly do,but in Most cases,I try to look at the cost performance aspect for My personal needs/intentions. My Gauntlet fits the bill for my intended uses. And if it can't do the job, I just go to my "toolbox" and grab the tool that does.

 Couldnt agree with you more on the value for money aspect on pcps, as well as springers for that matter. I think its been a factor in almost every purchase I've made. I currently have a hatsan flash .22, a flashpup .22 , a gamo urban, and a rws 34 .177, a bulboss .25, the gauntlet .177, and a benjamin prod. I couldve bought a high end pcp a time over at this point but the fun of them to me is polishing the gem that some of these entry level ones are. Currently its a toss up between the flashpup .22 shooting jsb 18's and the gauntlet .177 as my go to's. Took an english sparrow this morning at 103 yrds with the flashpup, had to double take when he dropped! This is a 75yrd 5 shot from the flashpup from today as well, was darn surprised how it turned out in these wicked michigan winds today!

Very impressive guys.

What happens to accuracy if you push past 75 to 100yards? Do you need larger caliber to maintain accuracy?

What have you done to the Gauntlet and could I find instructions on how to modify?

How much do the mods cost? 

How many shots are you getting per fill?

I recommend you check out Hajimoto's videos on YouTube. Very knowledgeable and clear,well put together videos! It was his "Chipmunk Smackdown" pesting videos that opened my eyes to the Gauntlets potential.

I installed a 380 cc bottle from ebay and am getting in excess of 150 shots per fill. I'm also using Hajimoto branded baffles and air stripper. There is also a hammer spring preload adjuster for sale...but I just drilled and tapped my own. Either way, it's a "must-have" for fine tuning. I ported and tweeked my stock valve,opened up the air passages/barrel port and used a section of poly tubing from a refrigerator water line as a transfer port.

Aside from that,the hammer (inside and out) was polished along with the bolt,ect. I cleaned up and adjusted the trigger components and added a touch of moly lube. Also cut about 1 3/4 coil off the stock hammer spring.

This is the hammer preload adjuster. I used a scope mount stop pin for adjustment.

I haven't shot much out past 60 yds on paper...but those little .177 pellets are pretty easy to blow off target. General consensus is that larger calibers are less affected by wind drift. Hope this covers it somewhat! Have Fun!!
