.177 slugs...Mako's?

I'm interested in the .177 slugs mainly because I want all the juice that I can get out to 75 meters with my 14 fpe HW97. Presently, the only slugs I have are the 12.5g NSA. STUPID ACCURATE!! I was pleasantly surprised by this. Ok, enough rambling. My main objective of this post is; where can I find 10.03g MAKO slugs? I have the 10 and 13 grain Knockouts on the way for a slug comparison and I've heard good things about the MAKO's so I thought I would try those as well. Thank you!

Just to clarify...I currently have the JSB Knockouts 1) 10 grains 2) 13 grains and the 3) NSA 12.5 grains. Aside from the MAKO's any other .177 caliber slug recommendations? I really want to dial it in to the one best load for my HW97 so I can really learn the trajectory and flight characteristics. Primarily it will be used for dispatching small game out to 50-60 meters. Or, whatever distance I can accurately shoot. Again, I shot one group with the NSA's and it was one ragged hole! I'd love to hear more about .177 slugs shot in the 10-15 fpe range.

Hey guys, I had reached out to Geoff at Precision Ballistics and he is very helpful. I’m just going to post his reply to me to make it easier but he specifies what these will work best in.

Hi Thomas Firstly thank you re the sub12 slugs aspect, it's certainly been an interesting journey and we have some products in r&d that if they see the light of day will really upset the apple cart. But back to your rifles, interesting propositions from my perspective, I have heard and seen the latter (albeit rebadged) but have no experience of the Hammerli. Likewise I havent heard of anyone using Mako's in either. So my thoughts are as follows I have quickly tried to establish barrel twist rates for both guns but can't readily find anything, ideally you need something that is no slower than 1.18 otherwise gyroscopic stability is a complete bust unless you really pump the power up. We have had clients use Mako's in springers successfully but as you are likely aware it is just down to barrel fitment, the Mako's are 177 and we are expecting kit to be able to produce 1775 in the next month or two. To get the weight down the slug skirt gets shortened and that makes them nose heavy so launch stability / barrel fitment is crucial to get the best results from them. Moving on to the PCP, obviously this is the predominant playground of slugs and again barrel fitment is key, another crucial aspect is again getting the slug into the barrel and some magazines facilitate this better than others, if you look at https://www.precision-ballistics.co.uk/slugs-1 this will give you some info. Sooo Sir, obviously the choice is yours as to whether to take a punt on them, what I can say that if they do work in your guns in my opinion there is very little out there on the market that will give the expansion / terminal impact characteristics that they do at sub12 and they are a very good pest control option that offers humane dispatch (shot placement dependant obviously) Hope that helps and if you have anymore questions please don't hesitate to ask, keep an eye on us as we hope to release some interesting stuff this year (r&d results permitting) atb Geoff
