Crosman 1968 Crosman 760 PowerMaster

Just picked up this Crosman 760 ”Power Master”. It has a April 1968 date. I shot my cousins every summer back in the late 60’s. My wife also said she had the same gun when she was a girl as soon as she saw it. It shoots strong at over 500 fps with eight pumps. I bought it as non working but I guess the guy didn’t know how it operated because it works perfectly. Cleaned right up. All original. Hardly used in nearly 60 years. Love the “tootsie roll” cocking forearm. It is fun to have an American made pump bb rifle to shoot. Brings back very good memories. Anyone else have one?

Mine was mid 70’s, solid composite with a wood pump handle. I aim to find one like it some day.

I guess it is a “first variant”, 1B. It has the rounded tongue on the butt stock. Also the wood is American Elm. Most were Poplar. My cousins was the Elm model also. I wonder if he still has it.

Elm is really cool wood. I have a 140 and 160 stock.

That looks very nice to me. Most I find are in “very used” condition.

I had the plastic stocked version in the mid 70’s. The gun I really liked though was the Crosman 766.

Yep, that's the year I had ('68). Just seeing one in such great shape brings back a flood of memories. Mine was used and abused and I don't think it made it past '72.

Nice! I haven't seen one that clean since my older brother unboxed his on Christmas morning of '67. Lots of good memories there. I finally found a slightly newer model after over fifty years of searching.

I have one like that in the basement. It's a solid shooter that I found at the flea-market.

That’s the one I had. Many miles across the handle bars of my bike.
Imagine what would happen to a 10 year old doing that today.

Struckat I’ve said it before, if kids today did the stuff we got away w…I mean the stuff we did in the 70’s the SWAT team would show up. It’s amazing we didn’t lose a few fingers with our developmental versions of a spud gun. Didn’t shoot our eye out either. I will always wonder how many thousands of bb’s and pellets are at the bottom of that pond.

My first pellet gun was a 760 I got in 1983. I loved that thing. Easy to pump and reasonably accurate with the tasco scope I put on it. Wish I could find it. Probably somewhere at my parents house.

I had one in the late sixties. Someone broke into my house in about 1982 and stole it and my Crosman 38T that was still in the original box.

I think I have one in much beaten condition in the basement. Maybe no buttstock. Should remedy that. Have great grandsons who will be needing it soon. Ages 6 and 7 I think. One older great grand daughter who needs one too. My problem is MOST of my stuff is adult in style and power level. Be Well Brothers, B.

I had a 760 in the early 70's. It took a lot of convincing to get Dad to allow me to step up from my Daisy 1894 BB gun to a pump pellet gun. After a couple of years the 760 began to leak and I was old enough for a Sheridan which Dad also wasn't keen on but gave in and allowed me to work to earn one.

The Sheridan pretty much erased any memory of the pot metal and plastic smooth bore 760, lol.
