Ok, ok, the HW50 72 is ready to go. I’m just not able to screw that bloody trigger housing back on. I ordered a part. Wrapped it up in rags and placed on floor and come back another day. So what do I do, I tear another HW50 apart, a 68.

This one the 3 is backwards on both stamps.
I noticed the barrel is ruff.
Not familiar with this breach seal.

I remove the trigger assembly and the forward pin is in 4 pieces.

It looks like a bushing is crushed. Starting to look like a parts gun.

I’m able to twist off the trigger block off with out hammering it. And it screws off easy. The spring has no tension on it period. I’m trying to pry out the spring. Then realize it’s under pressure, so I screw the trigger block back on.

Why would the spring be stuck in there.

Through the hole below the thread you can see wood through the hole. The spring is caught under pressure.
Any ideas?

A bit of a curious situation. Is there something you can see through the cocking slot that might be jamming it in there? If you ultimately decide its a parts gun, I have been looking for a vintage HW50 piston for the past two years. I'd sure be happy to take that one off your hands!
cheers
Got this POS at D&L. Didn’t buy as parts but should have. Huge disappointment. I’ll have to lick my wounds. Crow
You are a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for another contact. Crow
Looks like the spring guide is hanging up. Probably where the threads end. Also it’s not a backwards “3”. It’s a half stamped “8”.
I think you correct on the hang up. I did notice when working on the 72, the threads interfered with the spring guide.
I’m not a gambler but I’ll give you 10 to 1 odds. Definitely a 3. It’s too deep and abruptly nothing. You can see the finishing tail on center stroke of the 3. I just checked out again with magnifiers.
Who ever struck the numbers did a complete hack job.

Both parts were hit twice as well. Crow

Gunked up as it looks I'd get a squirt bottle of diesel and squirt and soak that gunked up to soften . Seemed somewhere a guy with one like yours is he claimed after some work his piston came free and seemed to be old lube sticking the works up .. looking at that I could easy guess gunker up stuck..

Back in stock on leather stuff but here's a kit

( 23- piston seals and seal and washers/screw )

The current HW plastic breech seal was originally designed to be a drop-in replacement for the old leather ones. If it were mine I'd dig out the badly-installed leather one and pop in a plastic one.

I've never seen a broken trigger block pin, the gun must have gotten a hard whack at some point. You can get the pin and trigger bushing as replacement parts, or just buy a whole new Perfekt trigger. And a Rekord trigger will fit in the same holes if so inclined.

The serial is 285428, though the "8" stamp was definitely worn out! HW serials are often double-struck or otherwise poorly done, but I've never seen a backwards number and the "3" they used had an angled, not round, top half.

I apologize, I believe it to be a 3. I looked at it right. I’m so glad Bear didn’t take me up at 10-1.

Someone must have dropped the 8 and cleaned off the right side. Still manufactured same time.
I tried my damnest to free the spring.

I going to take it down to my shop and take a round out of it after lunch.
Any ideas?
Ever see this?

When I first removed the trigger housing I figured strange no pressure on this spring. Checking it out looking, try to push the spring out, no go. Instantly I screwed the trigger housing back on. Could have replaced an eye with a spring. Lesson learned.
I have needle nose Vice grips might have to grind a bit to grab the guide. Wrap with a rag and maybe screw out.

Boring high colder wind day so sip coffee and search stuff for nothing better to do..lol

I'm always interested in others problems . Heck I pick something up or learn a trick doing so as well so benefits me too..
.
I adopted your idea with punch. I could grab it with the vice grips but couldn’t manoeuvre. Thanks Crow
